New Condor, maybe a mistake
I am a new as can be to this site,I just found it
I just ordered a new Condor HPA in .22, fill clamp, with extra 12″ .22 barrel and 20oz. Co2 . I wish I had found this site first. Did I do wrong, and if so what can I do to improve it. I want to shoot paper and small game. I was thinking of the micro tank for paper shooting.
I hope to find out about any mods. that may help also. Thanks for any help. Glenn

i use c02 in the summer months, lots of shooting and i keep a spare c02 tank filled. in the cold months use hpa great set-up / kingpin
Well my condor was tuned by Talontunes and it has an aftermarket heavy hammer so, it won’t exactly compare to your’s and this is an 18″ barrel
but here ya go.

Shot #61 on this string was 831 @ about 1400psi
It probably took me at least 200 maybe more (I think I passed out at one point) pumps to get it back up to pressure….
10 shots is averaging 50 pumps…
My talon was about 20-25 shots per 50 pumps and started the fps at 815 with 2800psi..
That is what I am hoping for with the talon tank….
Mamcrackin do you have any chrony numbers to post? I’d be particularly interested in comparing the hi-flo valve Vs. the talon valve using 21.1 Gr. Kodiaks.
Congrats Glenn L. There is never anything wrong about getting an AF rifle no matter what the setup…..I ordered a Talon tank for my Condor due to the fact that the high flow valve uses so much air on each shot…..I talked to Tony with Talontunes and he said it would work fine even with the TT heavier hammer….I would just have to lower the PW setting to around 2-4…..I had a Talon SS before the Condor and really like the shot count I got out of the smaller air valve….So now I will be able to switch between high power and low depending on what I am wanting to do….The versatility with these guns is almost endless……Enjoy.
One (Username= melloroadman) guy I was following his posts shoots his Condor with a talon tank and seems to have very good results as far as shot consistency and shots between fills. Seems like a good set up. Btw Welcome.
The Micro to me is more my style because CO2 always seems to leak when least expected. But if I where you I would try out the CO2, a lot of guys like it.
Being that you have a Condor there is a hammer weight. If you put a micro meter tank on your Condor you would have no adjustablitly because of the extra weight.
The hammer weight is needed to open the High Flow Tanks but not for the standard and micro tanks.
Hold off on the micro and see how you like the CO2.
As for the inside of a shroud take a look at the shroud section and you can get some ideas.
If you need help or any ideas on how to build a shroud just let us know, we can get you on the right track.
Did you get a end cap with the 12″ barrel? You will need that to help keep it quiet.
You know I don’t know, I just ordered the barrel from PA, I’ll have to check. I can get all types of al tube and pipe, just need to know how it looks on inside, and how far past the muzzle it has to be.
Would the micro tank be worth getting ?
I have to go to the range tomorrow and test a new 6mmBR I just put together. The AF won’t be here till Monday can’t wait.
Thanks Glenn
You did just fine ! You won’t be sorry. You’ll see.
Glenn make sure you see this before buying material for a home made shroud….

Oh yea….You picked the best PCP and the best setup in my opinion….Good choice….
As long as it is not to cold CO2 will work just fine.

Do you have a scuba tank to fill from? If you are going to shoot CO2 it sounds like you are set up.
Welcome and be sure to take a look at our Quick Reference Section.
I have 2 scuba tanks, but was thinking the CO2 would last longer in the back yard. I would like to get a shroud for the 24″. If I saw one or had plans I could build it. I have a lathe & mill, and build target & varmint rifles . Thanks Glenn

no worries mate, you have done nothing wrong at all, in fact you have done your self right with a very nice setup 😉 use the co2 and the 12 incher for close in and back yard paper punching and 24 incher with the hpa for hunting and 100 + yard paper punching.

Got a question on the CO2. Not exactly on topic, but not too far off, I’m thinking.
CO2 is temp sensitive since it’s an evaporating gas. At lower temps it generates less pressure. Is the issue with TANK temp, or temp in the adaptor/receiver?
If it’s tank temp, why not put a thin layer of neoprene on the tank and slip a chemical heat pack inside it? The packs only get to about 130 degrees which should keep the tank nice and warm on a cold day without letting it get too hot.
Thoughts?
