polishing sear/trigger group

I did not what to highjack the SAFETY thread, so I started this as a new topic.

I am going to have to remove my safety, because of a stiffer hammer spring for my .25 cal. When I break my gun down, I would like to polish the trigger group. I am looking for any advice in doing this.

I use really fine diamond files with isopropyl alcohol. Also hard arkansas whet stones like you’d sharpen a knife with.
Time, patience, keeping it square, and not changing angles is what makes it work.
I also polish with a buffing wheel an jeweler’s rouge to make it really shiny.

For lube, I use some teflon grease that’s real light. Moly works too, I’ve heard.

Use magnification to see what it looks like, and how well you’re progressing.
You don’t want rounded corners at the sear overlap. If they’re sharp enough to shave fingernail, you’re right on it.

thanks for the post. what is best to use to polish the sear? stone / file what is the best lube to use on it?

Go there. Cygnus has an excellent pointer on where to work on it for stronger hammer springs.
