Q:

Tank Dump… wtf!

So I came home and was shooting off a few rounds to sight in my new scope. After about 5 shots I shoot and the tank just keeps on spitting out air through the barrel. I quickly removed it and set it down outside and after a minute it stopped. What caused this and what do I do next? I tried to shoot again after to see how low it had gotten and the tank was completely empty. So what do I do now? Is there a problem? Do I refill the tank or will that be dangerous?

I was using pellets which I had spread open with a beeman pell sizer (or whatever its called) so idk if the extra pressure somehow harmed the valve. I really have no idea!!!

Please help!

Dude I have the same issue what was your resolution or looks like you sent it back what was AF’s resolution?

Just out of curiousity and if you haven’t sent it off yet. Can you push the top hat down? When you do, does it come back up?

quote PatrickStam:

Yep I just tried filling it to 200psi, opened the bleed valve and all 200 psi came right back out. The tank just isn’t holding any air.

Walter, IDK what to do!!! I am very unfamiliar with the design of these guns. 😳 Would taking it apart possibly void my warranty? I’d rather call AF than risk my money.

like the fellas are saying send it back to Airforce, they should do you right

send it back to A/F, they will fix it for you.

Agreed…

It was definitely a tank dumb just very slow. It is a talon tank so maybe it’s not as strong as you think it should be. It did take about a minute for all the air to come out. What happened was:

1. I filled the tank to 2800 psi.
2. I shot a few shots.
3. I pulled the trigger on one and then heard the gas running through the barrel so I unscrewed the tank and it was still spewing out air.
4. I set it out on my deck and waited for it to stop.
5. Pressure in tank is not enough to shoot a pellet.

I do have a CF tank I fill from so it wont take a lot of effort to see how it goes but I just wanted to make sure the valve wasn’t about to break into a thousand pieces and kill me lol.

thank you.
with this info I suspect it is inside the valve and has nothing to do with the pellets you were shooting. Likely the valve head is split or mangled in some fashion. With a tank dump you do not have any time for removing the bottle and listening to it drain.
That can only occur with a valve that is nearly closed but leaking severely
a teardown is in order for that tank.
Walter….

I would just keep it pointed away like a loaded gun. I have had a valve shear right through. Now thats a scarey dump….

I had JUST filled the tank to 2800 psi. So it wasn’t low on pressure.

Cronic (nice vids on youtube btw I’ve seen them alot), what do you think I should test?

another thought….

is this the old style Condor tank?
if so it could be a broken stem that is holding on one side only. That allows the valve head to cock over and not return to a sealing position.

let us know as you find stuff ok?

Lol all this talk about taking a dump… why are we defining what a scarey dump is??? just have a look in the crapper after a great party, im sure that sorta dump would scare anyone lol…

quote PatrickStam:

Yes I took the tank completely off and it was still spewing out air like crazy. I did read the other thread but they have a different setup and I thought the advice there didn’t really apply to my problem.

I’m totally foreign to the design of the gun. All I know is how to operate it! So taking the valve off and messing with it would probably just make something worse….

BTW the tank did dump all its air at once I don’t see the difference Walter?

Where can I go from here? Should I try to fill it a couple hundred psi and see if it hold pressure?

Edit- Could the pellet be the cause? Because I do think it wasn’t all the way in.

a tank dump will rock your world 🙂 the thing will dump air so fast it will scare you. In the case of a tank dump the valve is held open by debris or due to not being setup correctly.

So how fast exactly did it ‘dump’ on you?

Have you tried airing it up? as others say it is worth the effort esp as you are not going to fix it without assistance.
Someone here will coach you through if you need help.

Walter….

Just pump it up again. If it dosent work its got to be something in the bottle. Probably the plastic seal. Send it back if it doesnt work….. thats if you dont want to fix it for youreself
