Q:

accuracy issues any advice welcome

Hi
Some of you might remember i asked for a vice as i wasnt sure if it was me or the gun.

It all started when i bought a brand new stealth and i kept thinking it’s not performing 100%

In the pursuit of trying to find answers I stumbled here and have been reading this forum with great interest / admiration. I think I joined in middle of Jan and I didnt even know that the thing that keeps uncrewing again and again from my bottle is called “top hat” or where was the breach O’ring situated and what did “leupy” mean.

Now both me and the gun are uprated/improved, me with knowledge and the stealth with leupy 60g hybrid hammer&spring /valve o’ring mod. everything else is standard barrel is temper proof

Also i realised how tricky this gun is and bought a chrono Combro CB625

read all these interesting posts regarding regulators
so took the plunge(thanks to sirjeigo for advice and inspiration from others as well),
bought myself a paintball bottle(pure energy 48cu/in – 800cc)regulated to 800-900 psi

this is the string from todays shooting (pellets JSB exacts)
using pressure from 3000psi to 2000psi

the shots near the red dots are by a Daystate in .177 also done today.

so what is wrong with the gun if it wont shoot pellet on pellet in a vice.

clamped in a vice?? how!!! could this be your problem? try resting it on bags.

faisal I was having similar problems and found that the hammer was getting hung and would not consistantly provide an equal blow to the air valve on each shot…..I polished the inside of the frame where the hammer slides. I sanded down the shoulder that was sticking up where the black plastic and the metal meet on the hammer. And I put silicon grease on the metal part of the hammer to make sure that the hammer would not get hung on the trigger sear inside the frame…..Seems to be shooting 100% better….Consistant fps and groups…..

Try cleaning your barrel and use beeman kodiacs, keep also check your scopes cant.

Your not far at all maybe 1 hour drive at most. I am in horsham, westsussex.

if I am not up to much this saturday so your welcom to come down my way and try out my standard 12″ .22 barrel.

PM me if you want to take up this offer and to check if I am working or not.

Ok…can leave a PM or email me directly at ribbonstone@hotmaiXl.com (just take out the X).

have been warned, it’s an ugly barrel. Has been on two Crosmans, then fitted to a QB action, then on to the Talon SS, so it has grown shorter (from the breech) each time and has cuts/tapped holes that serve no use. So far it’s had a preference on EVERY gun for pellets with a deep hollow base and thin soft lead skirts (pick up a tin of good H&N or RWS .22 WC ammo if you can).

To be truthful, I’ve never shipped over seas…but I have 5 boxes that have to go out by UPS sometime in the next week or so, and will ask.

Ribbonstone thanks for your kind offer I’ll accept it and give it a try . will send PM
BTW There was no movement in the vice ,top hat and when i try to move the barrel it doesnt seem to have much movement.

Brutus i m based near heathrow
when i loaded JSB exacts they felt quite loose and softer, compared to Accupels and powapels which are tight fit and dont loose shape or get marks on the skirt easily.
I did try Bisley premier and they do a 4 inch group at 35yds 😡 so that put me off all bisleys and i didnt try the bisley magnum
mail ordered some Norica Ban but when i opened the box got really disheartened, so many got deformed havent tried them yet

i have fired from 12ft/lb down to 9.5ft/lb to find a sweet spot in between but no luck it doesnt matter what power they come out.

I always shoot with the bean can silencer as it has got the chrono taped on it and my ears dont have to suffer.

apart from cleaning barrel (mine has only shot around 1000 pellets)
and firing without silencer
i have tried all the tips given here http://talonairgun.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3143

I’ll give it a try with the end cap and see if it makes any difference and
B magnums

cheers
Faisal

Going to try and logic this out.l

IF you’ve tried the fixes from the earlier post, have tried OTHER PELLETS (no matter how good the pellet, if it isn’t a match for your barrel, it shoots like crap), the vice is well mounted and not shifting, the top hat is adjusted well, and you’ve cleaned the barrel…then it’s one of two things.

Either the barrel is moving in the frame or the barrel is one of the rare bad ones.

Now I’m not use to sending stuff over seas….but if you’ll pay shipping, I’ll send you a super ugly cut down 15 3/4″ .22 Crosman barrel fitted with black Delrin bushings. Made the bushings to be a tiny bit over sized, so you’ll have to lube them and push them into the frame (not hard…can do it by hand, but it’s not a “drop by it’;s weight” fit.). Never bothered to make it pretty, there are threaded holes and other cuts on the barrel that has no current use…but it works. Was a quick-n-dirty job to just see how well that cheap Crosman barrel could do. Would expect that barrel to make 1/3″ 25 yard groups, which is larger than I’d expect from a good AirForce barrel, but not bad for a barrel that cost $14 US. Bushings are a drive on fit, both glued and set screwed in place. The four mounting screws on the gun’s tube are there just to keep it from sliding in or out.

The above would certainly remove any barrel-movement issues. It’s yours if you send me the shipping information and return the shipping cost (guess it would be UPS to the UK…probably about a 2 1/2 pound package because I tend to over package things).

The odd length is so that a Talon SS can use it but still get some effect from the end cap as a noise reduction. Better with an extended nose cap with a couple of baffles.

I tried those pellets and a few others including airarms but all moved about too much.

Is the pellet you use a good fit into the barrel? I found that the tighter fit the better so I shoot B Mangums now and find them perfect.

Have you checked your endcap for fouling?

What power are you shooting at? Maybe you have too much power for the weight of pellet?

Where ru based?
