Q:

? larger than 5.5 mm ?

I received some .22 – 5.5mm Wasp Magnum Pellets. Thought (think?) they are kick ass, untill I “tried” to insert one in my 18″ .22 AirForce barrel. Doesn’t fit!

Some of you (WHO) know what this kind of fit will result in shoot @ around 11 on the power dial.
And Isn’t there a way for Layman to narow them / lighten a bit?
They have a great head to burow a hollow point into; I’m think’n. But still, they must be more than 5.5mm! Or, what is the Air Force barrel inside dia? Huh… ➡

But wait, Duh….. We’re speaking of 5.5 being to large for a 5.5 fit! So why the hell would 5.6 be, Better? The tin says “5.5”. Those are even to big. Was happy to hear that you said but actually… NOT. ➡

Hey Bart… No shit? That’s F’n good news! Right on. I’m going to be lookN IN to that! Untill then, I’ve put about half of’m in a tin, and I’m simply shaking the shit out of’m. To try and just wear them down all together size & so to be a couple grain as well; But if fits better, all good on the western front.

if it’s the eley wasp, those are available in both .22 5.5mm and .22 5.6mm

Yaa, I know! I went to the range yesterday and a kid there with his dad had a 17 somthing rifle (far arm) and thos long little skinny bullets when the hundres yards pretty damn fast. I’m using a stock AF tank @ 3200 fill, with 7+ mm @ the TopHat setting, with the pwr. dial on 10.75. I was stuck on a favorite in 28+ grain. Consistant & straight line flat.
At lower power settings of 2800-3050 in tank psi & the pwr set a 5+, the PILE DRIVERS at what, 32g. fit snug yet nice in the 18″. Now, they fit even nicer. It seems barrels even from the same maker is a fraction or, mm’s inconsistant? Naaa.. I’d think that the “bullets” are consistantly larger! That sucks! Needs to be the correct dimensions! Damn!
I wonder; What would it take to start a Pellet\Bullet manufacturing some kick ass specialty projectiles.. That would kick ASS. ➡

They fitted OK in my Condor barrel.
Actually they are pretty acurate in my barrel.

Pablouk, sorry mate for the delay on doing the test of these pellets 😳 my brother borrowed my chrony, need to get it back from him. I’ll do a post as soon as he brings it back 😳 If I ever see it back. I’ll probably need to buy a new one 😡 ❓

They were too tight in my barrel as well. I also gave some to picudo, maybe he can let us know if they fitted in his barrel ok??
When I had bought these, I phoned up the shop where I bought them to explain the problem. He phoned the factory and they said they shouldn’t be any bigger than a standard .22
The guy in the shop even sent me 20 or so from another tin and batch to see if I had a one off bad ‘un. But these too were too big….
They had so much potential to go super sonic and stay stable… 😥

Never heard of Wasp Magnum pellets.
