Collar Grub Screw
Hello, can’t get my collar grub screw out. I think it is secured. I’ve tried with heat but no reaction. Perhaps i was too careful. Don’t want to overheat this part of the frame. Anyone with an idea?
Cheers

first try to tighten it, that probably wont work, but it’s worth a try, then call A/F and tell them they need to install a second grub crew for you and get an R/A number from them.
Got her fixed… I just needed to loosen the screw and then retighten. I think the collar was just a touch out of kilter in the frame, which caused a little wiggle. Rock solid now.
By the way…is it a good idea to install a second screw to the collar. If so, where is the best position for it?

Managed! 😀 Got it out with 1: heat and 2. acetone and a much better tool than the last time. My old allen key could not transfer the power to the screw cause he deformed too much. I have learned my lesson: Don’t buy cheap tools. 🙄
Thank you all!

Now that I look at mine, its a off a cunt hair or two. Well maybe just a red cunt hair. Seems to me just one grub screw holding the collar in is gonna offset the piece alittle. I bet most of these airforce rifles have the same issue.
Hasn’t affected the gun’s performance, far as I can tell, but I’ll be digging for that collar grub screw soon enough.
Gotta be 100%!

This reminded me that I think I have a similar issue with that sleeve. I feel a little “shift” in the tank once in a while when I shoulder it. I can feel it move a little up or down. But not side to side.

that’s a good enough reason for me, I to can’t stand little details like that being off.
How do i describe this in english… 🙄 Ok, i will try it. The collar doesn’t match with the frame. He is slghtly twisted. If i cock the talon and pull the breech back, it doesn’t fit 100%. And that’s annoying me. I want a 100% talon ss.

why do you need to remove it?
If It’s just metal around the screw try pure acetone squirted down into the thread and leave to soak In for a few seconds. It will eveaporate pritty quickly so you may need to repaply. Abit of movement on the screw will help the acetone to pentrate too. If there’s any threadlock on there that should help disolve It enough for you to unscrew It.
Tried all the tips….can’t get the damn thing out. I think i have to drill it out.
Thanks for your advices.

Heat a soldering iron and hold it to the screw to release any locktite.
There was abit of locktite or similar on my valve spring retainer. I couldn’t use staright acetone or It would feck up the plastic retainer so put nail varnish remover on the thread, let It soack through the threadlock for a minute or so and It came right off.
You may want to try to penetrating oil…Can’t think of anything else….
