O.k. The R-1 mount and the Airforce laser mount fit the dovetail directly w/o any adapter and are fairly low profile (lower than I think you can get with a scope ring and shims).

I realize that it will not fit 1″ scope rings off the shelf. I plan to shim it with some pieces of plastic pipe of whatever size works. I want to mount it in front of my scope so I need to utilize the dovetail grooves on the top rail and not have to use a dovetail/weaver adapter which may create a height problem.
It is also a little pricey but I am trying to buy high quality products that can be used on my M4 if I want. Thanks for input, though.

The greenbeam 1000 is 3/4 inch, so scope rings won’t work. The mount from the Airforce laser will work, or you can order the Beamshot R-1 mount.

For $69.00 you could do worse than this. http://www.opticsplanet.net/ncstar-laser-sights.html

I have one of these being shipped now. It looks like it should be a good unit. It has much better specs than the Air Force laser. The Air Force laser is less visible in daylight (red) and the specs show a 4 1/2″ dot at 100 yards. The Beamshot is green and has less than a 2″ dot a 100 yards. I plan to mount it using a 1″ scope ring on the top rail.

well for a laser on an airgun works best for short distance and the grean lasers are harder to adjust than the af if its not the new ones that adjust like a scope

I have the AirForce Laser and it works great for me. You can do better with a green Laser.

I dont have one of their lasers, but I’ve got four of their CREE LED mini flashlights – all of which are brighter than my big maglite. Prices are great, but shipping is sloooow.

I have read here that Air Force lasers are over priced. I bought one I like it. It adjusts easy and stays where I put it.

If you can swing it, get a green laser. They cost just under $100 these days and the green is a lot easier to see in the daylight.

If I could offer anything else, it’d be to make sure that the laser doesn’t come permanently attached to its mount. Nothing really wrong with that, except if the mount is unusually high it might interfere with your scope and limit your mounting options. Also, those mounts are all Weaver style, so don’t forget that you’ll need an adapter to put it on the gun.
