make shift Laman Lathe?
I have a projectile that is a couple mm to large for my AF bore dia. plus wihile skimming that down, I need to go deeper in various places to inturn have rings so to seal in the rifling. This is about a 1″ long X 5.61mm side to side. I DON’T HAVE a lathe nor do I know anyone that does!
I have a Dremel, a great DeWalt (battery operated), a dual end grinder, several different bits and sruff, some things like that; So how could I get somthing going that I can lathe grooves in it etc. A bullet…etc.? ➡

➡ I got going what’ll work. I put a drill in a vice, put a little pencil sharpener same way next to it; Then secued the bullet in the drill. Put in on high and locked the trigger, then just took a square file (under mag glass) and made the grooves! Takes a while to do 10 even, but. I need a couple hundred to experiment with. I’ll have shot 10 of a design (with chrony) just to see if it’s a throw away design, or.
What does the the bullit look like? JFW
I would seriously suggest you try to find a mini or micro lathe second hand, you’ve might join & post to some amateur machinist sites as this is a subject that comes up and has been covered.
It really is quicker and better to start off with a lathe,

For a basic design which will work well in high powered airguns have a look at

Only something which reaches the base of the rifling grooves & seals gives optimum power.
Bullets with multiple grooves are designed for applications where power is cheap & easy & you get more power by adding more powder.
The way to get the best from air power is to have most of your projectile ride the inside of the rifling, have just enough bite into the rifling to reliably spin the bullet and have a skirt at the back which the air can force into the rifling to form a seal.
And the right size every time to within a tenth of ma millimeter really does make the difference,
