silicone grease – cheaper than "diver’s silicone"?
I searched and didn’t find any mention of this, so I thought I would post it. Quite a bit cheaper than diver’s silicone, around here anyway.
I found it at Lowe’s in the plumbing aisle, next to the TFE paste, flux, etc. paid $3 and some change for it.
no petroleum distillates, food grade, fat free, organic, amish made, blah, blah, blah. 😀

plumbers silicone is what ive been using for a while, but in cold weather, i found a superior concoction. i buy a bottle of rain-x windshield treatment(not the washer fluid ), and use a candle warmer to evaporate the methanol. this will yield about .25 oz. of PURE polydimethylsiloxane, it is a syrupy consistency and is more pure than silicone grease, no fumed silica to thicken it. apply with a toothpick. 😎
Could use dielectric grease too.
Yep $2.99 at Lowes in Alabama. Works great. Its on hangers where the small plumbing parts are.

Yep, that stuff from HD or Lowes is all you need. Comes in a little plastic tin. The only difference is that divers silicone is “food grade”.
So go for the plumber’s silicone… unless you’re planning on French Kissing your O-rings. 😆
I was using the plumbers silicon but found a tube the same size as a tube of caulk on ebay and bought that…I have enough silicon to last a life time…..
went to the shop today to get a tank filled, they wanted $10 for it……..
