.223 Remington 700 SPS Varmint First Blood.
First blood for this rifle today. My landlady stopped to tell me she saw the ground hog at the pond today. Later my nieghbor said he saw same ground hog when he came home today. When I went out I saw it also.
When I came in didn’t see him. Sooo put my camo on and set up shop about 50 yds in the Pine thicket in front of his Den.
It started to rain so I thought would get wet for nothing today.
Checked the Den about 3 times and then he appeared. Taking carefull aim using a pine to steady with the gun went off. Never felt the trigger.
Ground hog FeveR I reckon. 😳
The ground hog was gone and a hole was in the dirt behind where he had been. So I walked over to the den and he was laying there with a hole through his neck 😛
Took him and knocked on the landladys door, collected my Bounty and carried him about a mile into woods and discarded.
When I bought this gun it had about a 20 lb trigger Pull, All I could do to pull it. Terrible. I had my local gunsmith set it to a 3 lb pull. Getting better ever since. my First Single stage trigger.

Triggers always pull lighter when Im hunting. Had my rifles set to where the trigger felt heavy on the bench, but out hunting almost went off by themselves.
Glad you got the bugger. Sux to go thru rain to come up empty.

Practice, Practice, practice!!! Until playing with Air guns, I had never used a 2 stage trigger at all. All my varmint rifles have been at 1 .b or under on the triggers I really like about 10 oz. A heavy trigger really screws me up. I guess it’s just what you get use to!
My AF SS is about 2 lbs. Way too heavy!
