Plano Gun Stand

I got one of these cases for $20 a while ago.

The case is nice, plenty storage for everything, and the fact it has two gun supports that attach to each end is good too – except that you cannot lock the lid so its not at all portable when the supports are attached. And the supports are tough to attach and remove and they BARELY fit inside the case.

Plus, as a stand its a little top heavy with a gun on it + narrow base = bad news..

I went target shooting last weekend and discovered a need for a gun stand. I was going to make one entirely out of wood and then I remembered I had two supports sitting around.

Bought some threaded rod, some nuts and washers and drilled 6 holes to get this –

I’m going to get some PVC tubing to go over the rod and I might saw the bottom off to lower it or drill holes in the side so I can add “out rigger’s” but so far is seems pretty solid and stable.

Decent range case and a stand – not bad for $30 total.

There’s no vertical adjustment unless you move the stock back and forth (on a regular stocked gun) to raise and lower.

You’d be better off with sandbags.

Other than a bloody scratch from inadequate packaging on the manufacturer’s part I love it.

I like that idea you came up with there uncle ninja, is it sturdy enough to double as shooting rest?
