I havn’t put this in the for sale section as this ones a bit different, and I wanted as many guys saw it as possible…
I have tracked down a supplier who will do me 20 tins at £4 each.
I can ship for about £40 quid on the 20.
THIS IS AS CHEAP AS I CAN FIND AND WILL BE MAKING NO PROFIT
If someone wants to sort a group buy and gather funds that end, I will FRONT UP the money and send them. Work out the exchange rates for yourselves!! Should work out pretty cheap??!!

That was supposed to be “every.” I’m just saying that many kinds of products have a super cheap copy that you can get from china. Knives, airguns, speakers.

When some one tells me that something sucks that we all know is inevitable, my advice is just sit back and enjoy the blow job! 😯 That’s life.

That’s a really good point, and I like how you are looking at it. Optimistic kind of view, don’t look at it as stealing so much as free advertising. Kudos to you for being the better man!

As AG pointed out, the Chinese wouldn’t honor it any way.
I remember when Dick Durough, Mr. Fuller and Harvey Mcburnett were the first to design the forward lock. The first change to come on the scene in lock back folders. Fuller lost his hand in a tread mill accident at Good Year in Gadsden Ala. so the lock was designed out of necessity. They sent the design to Gerber when it was still a U.S.> made knife company.
There were two design engineers working there at the time. They were Pete Kershaw, and Al Mar.
Pete Kershaw and Al mar both left Gerber and produced the knives under their own names, but never gave credit to the designers. Because they were being produced in Japan, they couldn’t sue.
Well after over 20 years of trying, they managed to get a federal trade embargo put on them that they had to be paid so much in back compensation for them to continue to sell them in the US. They did finally get paid. WooHoo. I knew all three of the Guys as they worked with my Dad at Good year.
I also Knew Al Mar. Really liked the Guy. He was retired Special forces. . What he did was just typical in the industry. Al Mar was one Sharp Fellow. And so were his Al mar Branded Knives.
Fast forward. One maker I know of designed the frame or liner lock as we know it today. Michael Walker. He and his wife Patricia went to the great expense and trouble of getting it patented.
They never sued any one. What they did was to contact people making them and requested that they place in the Ad’s that they were designed by the Custom Knife Maker Mike Walker. If this was done, no action was taken. What this did over a very short period of time was give credence to what was other wise copies. But more importantly, the name of Mike and Patricia Walker became quickly world known as a maker and designer of exotic custom folders. This raised the value of Walker Knives through the roof. A Walker Titanium liner lock selling for around 300.00 US then is now in the 25,000.00 to 30,000.000 US range.

No Court battles, and world wide free advertising for his designs!
bob Loveless is well Known as the Father of the Modern custom and Hand Made Knife. There are so many articles and books out about his work and designs that no rip off company can ever claim to be the designers. His work is just that well known in the Custom Knife World.
Of course there are many cheap copies out there by many companies that the average public purchase. But as this is not the market we move in. So it really in the long run, only helps. It makes the average knife buyer,a nd use familiar with our design if and when they become serious collectors.
Kinda like a Timex for a kid or an adults Seiko watch with a look similar to a Rolex. It only wets’ the apatite of the possible future conasuer!

Yeah, looks just like those. Of course, my CS version didn’t cost that much. 😛
That is my favorite knife design ever. I would say CS sucks for copying it, but since I got mine for about 100 bucks, instead of 25000, I won’t complain too much. 😀 But it would have been nice if they mentioned some names and gave more credit where due.

Or the Loveless Authorized Lovett Loveless Connection Big Bear. Apx 3500.00 U.S. I had a CS dealer at the Austin Texas Gun Show show me the CS Black Bear and claimed it was the original design. I showed hem a real Bib Bear and he flatly said that the Loveless was a cheap knock off. Probably worth no more than 70-75 bucks. He about shit when I told him what it was and what it was worth. Of course he didn’t believe me, so he ask knife maker who had a table next to his both what it was. The guy said HOLY Shit! Is that a Real Loveless Big Bear! Dude, do you have any Idea What That thing is Worth. Well Yes I do!! LoL!!! Got to Love-it!!!

That sucks though. I love the OSS I got from them, a copy of one of the loveless fighters. They do mention his name in the description though.
That’s an awesome design on the tanto. I always thought that was the coolest knife, the recon tanto, it’s awesome to know the guy who actually designed the thing. Good work! I personally think your prototype is a better looking one though. 😀
Me too Lama! The Recon Tanto was my design. Here is the original prototype I made back in the 80’s.

[/img] Of course they said that it would never sell. the shortened the blade and added a rubber handle. With not so much as a by your leave or thank you! 👿 I called the Prototype the Combat Tanto.
I designed it with the help of a Tank Commander here at Ft hood and a Recon Scout. Ofcourse CS called it the Recon Tanto. Go figure. 🙄
Knifemaker, I love my cold steel knives, but I can definitely see them doing that. 😛

Uh, The Chinese do it all ready. They copy every thing. It is very common for them to copy Custom makers work, and then turn out a very cheap factory knock-off. One of the worst right now calls it’s self Mid-Tech. which is a U.S. Custom Knife Makers word for Not custom, bot assembled in batches in a custom makers shop. We use to call that bench made. Another company trade marked the words here in the U>S> and now we cant use it either. Bench made was a method of making for years until Bench Made became a name brand.At least they are very good, and a U.S. company. They also pay the Custom Makers for their designs. Mike Snody for Bench Made. Osborne for Bench Made. Kit Carson for Columbia River. Pat Crawford for Columbia River. Ken Onion for Kershaw. Tom Mayo for buck. Mick Strider for Buck. Each and every one of them good friends of mine.
The Chinese just rip us off with very sub-par copies of our work. Without so much as a Kiss our Ass. There is one U.S. company that is bad about it as well. but I won’t mention their name. Like Hell I won’t!!! COLD STEEL!!!
And it’s isn’t the U.S. that charges so much in custom at the border. France is one of the worst I have to deal with! Typical!

You’re exactly right! Sometimes there are even real factory authorized (by coercion) counterfeits out there.
Wal-Mart has built an empire this way. Convincing companies to have a cheap, low quality knock off produced in china for them, or else they threaten to ruin the American Company. They have been doing this for years. And they have ruined a lot of US companies that refused to play along.
Walmart gets what it wants. A CHEAP product with a huge profit. .
The buying public gets what it wants. A name brand less expensive product. (Never knowing that it is not the same product. Never knowing that the real, much higher quality product is just down the street at a very slightly higher price. )
And the Chinese get what they want. Our Money, Job’s and very soon, our place in the world economy.
And lastly we get the un-employment lines, so the new power’s that be can save us.

Heck, I even win. I and others like me make our living making high quality, highly collectible products in a throw away society. Things that actually go up in value rather than go down like a rock. WooHoo! 😀
