Its on the low side – but within the range I’ve heard with these guns. Is doing the same as my RWS 54 (same powerplant) from 1998.
I wouldn’t shoot raptors with it anymore – Light pellets with springer’s, especially magnum ones don’t offer as much resistance so the Piston can slam into the front of the compression tube and damage the gun – Not much better than dry firing.
My 48 would do dead on 19.5fpe with CPH – around 910-915fps
My 1998 rws 54 which is the same power plant was shooting 15 fpe with 8.4gr JSB’s.
I got that used last Sept – Because it was “low” powered I bought a spring and seal from maccari and a new breech seal from umarex and did a lube tune.
I still get the same velocity, I’ve heard the compression tube (the thing that slides back for loading) is sometimes out of round which is why you get some that do 20 and others that do 15. I’m not willing to spend the $60+ for a new tube to find out. I’ve decided to just live with it because its a nice shooter and more power wouldn’t do much for me.
I wouldnt shoot anything less than 7.5 – 8gr.
