Q:

Default power of Talon?

I have just purchased a Gunpower Stealth. I have heard that the US equivilant is the Talon. I was thinking about adjusting the top hat for a bit more power. My question is, what is the default power for the Talon/Stealth? I don’t want to break the UK limit of 12 ft/lb

you have to know the weight of the pellet and speed its fired at. You can only do this with a real crono and good scales. You can not really use just software to work out the power of a gun. You may wish to know i the UK it is a mandatory 5 year prison if you are prosecutad for having a airgun over 12lbft. So best to be 100% on the power if you do plan to mod it

How can I find my current power in ft/lb?
Could I use that softchrono program?

If you shooting at 12 fpe or below, dont mess with anything.
If its a non modded valve, you won’t be able to get any more out of it anyway. If its a modded valve, increasing hammer weight or more powerful spring will probably put you over 12 fpe. They come around 10-11.5 fpe

All Airforce air rifles sold in the U.S.A. are adjustable. This includes the Talon, Talon SS and Condor.

The adjustments are really a spring tension on the hammer and provides a rough start to modifying velocity. Other parameters have to be considered when adjusting the power wheel. It is not simply crank up the wheel and the power increases.

Barrel length is a much more powerful and certain means of increasing/ decreasing power.

Is the Talon SS the adjustable power one ❓
I ask because the legal limit in the UK is 12 ft/lb. I wanted to know how close mine was to the limit at the moment as I have not started to mod it yet.

My new 12″ barrel Talon SS (USA) was about 23 ft/lbs. It chronoed an average:

– 740 fps with 20.7 grain Beeman Kodiaks
– 839 fps with 14.3 grain Crosman Premiers
– 840 fps with 14.3 grain JSB
