Maruder first report
I received my gun today via UPS. I have #18 of 100. Here is my report so far. I will compare this gun to my present lineup of PCPs – The Condor and the AA410 thumbhole.
My guns are 22 caliber.
Pros –
The workmanship is excellent.
The quality of the wood “almost” compares with my thumbhole 410.
The feel of the gun resemble the 410 minus the thumbhole. A lot different from the Condor of course.
It is lighter than the 410 and heavier than the condor
Filling is as easy as the 410. This one takes the Foster quick coupling instead of a probe. NOTE – these fittings are around $5.00 – Crossman could include one in the package.
It has sling studs already installed – 🙂
I like the pressure gauge – same as the S410 location
Stock checkering is very nice, not as nice as the 410 but close. I will probably have some custom checking put on it for my personal information.
Butt pad is very nice as you’d expect. Not adjustable as the 410.
On the stock settings the gun is VERY VERY quiet. A lot quieter than the S410 and almost as quiet as my Tony shrounded Condor.
I mounted a 10-50 x 60 Sterling Nighteater. Very easy to mount and the big positive here is it retains the Sidewheel since the magazine inserts from the right. 🙂
Once the magazine was fixed I was putting a pellet on top of pellet at 25 yards…on the factory settings.
Trigger – very good. Not as good as the 410 or Condor but almost. I think it’s too wide myself. Release is excellent.
Cons –
The magazine clockspring came loose from it mounting point while loading up the first 10 crossman premiers. This was easy to fix. The magazine has a center allen head screw. I removed that and re-installed the spring in it’s mounting hole and put it back together. This is a small flaw which the factory will need to watch when putting these magazine together. The clockspring has a small hole which holds it in place. Mine was spinning @ and @. After I fixed that it worked great.

This gun has a bolt as compared to the side lever on the 410. This makes it stiff to pull back unless you grasp it firmly. Do not cock it using the bolt knob, rather place your thumb inwards and pull if back in one motion. I like the side lever, but may get used to the bolt after it breaks in.
The adjustments for power are nice, but it needs a blind allen bolt or cap to protect the opening. A critter may crawl in there someday. Also dirt needs to be kept out. Looks like an easy mod here to plug up that adjusting hole.
Safety is ok, blade is too big for me.
I have not passed it thru my chrony yet, but gut feeling is that it’s fast and hard hitting, especially when adjusting it on up. I gave it two turns in on the spring preload and could tell a big difference already.
Now I have only shot 40 pellets but Overall I give this gun a 9 out of 10 compared to the 410 ( being a 10 ). I like it a lot. I believe Crossman has a heavy weight contender here against the other PCP cadilliacs.

Right now – it is living up to the talk. I have been shooting Crossman premiers because I ran out of Kodiaks in 22cal. However, today PA delivered 6 tins to my door. So this weekend I will get the crony out and have some numbers next week hopefully.
Yesterday morning I looked out my back window and saw some blackbirds and starlings. They were a good 50 yards out, way past my target trap. It was level ground, no wind, clear day. I got the Marauder out of the bedroom. Raised the kitchen window, rolled up a dish towell over the sill and rested the gun there. Pressure was @ 2300 in the pipe. At 25 power on the Sterling I had a good sighting on the larger blackbird center shot. Pellet 1 was sent on it’s way at 50 yards. The pellet hit him center body and hard ! He fell over and never moved. Then the Starling on further out behind him flew to a fence post and just looked at the blackbird. The bolt was exercised and pellet 2 released. That Starling was hit in the mid body and fell straight down without incident. Both of these shots gave a report back like a baloon bursting! Another Starling came in and landed on a tree branch at @ 30 yards to see what the hell was going on. The bolt was exercised again, Starling body filled the Sterling and pellet 3 was released. That one fell hard to the ground.
That was enough for now. Marauder muzzle was extracted from the window and kitched secured.

I just came back from Mac 1 for some new rings and pellets. He asked if I heard of the Marauder. I said “Yeah you got one?” turns out he had ordered one for a customer, and he starts taking it out of the box to show me.
Damn that’s not a bad gun! Fit and finish was quite decent, nice wood, and really quiet, very nice light trigger. Maybe he gave it a Tim Tune, I didn’t ask. He said he’ll be selling them for $550.00. I find the 410’s side lever much better than the rather stiff bolt action the Marauder has, but if this shoots as good as the 410 I’ll probably be picking one of these up at some point down the line. If this gun is all it’s cranked up to be, the price is insanely good.

That magazine looks like a Theoben,which are protected by patent.Has Crosman bought the patent or is there a law suit waiting out there?

I want your back yard to shoot in! Good luck with the gun sounds like a winner. I looked at them and decided to stick with a talon ss because I already have the condor and the accessorries.
