"drooping" optimal scope mounting rings!!!
We discussed scope mounting in this forum last week and during a separate discussion on scuba tank adapters, melloroadman1 sent me a link that discussed “drooping”. Dropping you mount normally isn’t that important, but as the distance between your bore centre and scope centre increases you might run out of adjustment. Our guns because of their design are prone to this problem.
I think BKL has a mount that has drop machined into it.
A friend of mine suggested using a Zeiss classic 6×42 riflescope with a dovetail base on the scope and making a dropper mount for it.
I machined it with 0.9mm per 120mm drop into it. Works out to approximately 26MOA.
And the Target turret I made for it. Made it myself though I borrowed the design.
Works like a charm. Rangefind with the Leica LRF900.
Turn your Target turret to the correct distance an shoot.
Pretty foolproof.
