Q:

Does high pressure tank need a regulator?

I am thinking about a 4000 – 4500 psi tank to fill from. A guy I just talked to said I would need a regulator or it will be very difficult to control the fill (I want to fill to 2500psi).

Anyone have opinions on this?

here is a tip:

connect gun to fill hose, crack bleeder, crack open tank valve until you hear air venting out the bleed.

Stop opening tank valve, close bleeder and observe guage pressure climbing. If it slows and stops before the gun is full crack the tank valve ever so slowly to top it up.

Close tank valve at fill pressure, bleed fill whip, disconnect gun.

Walter….

BTW this is mainly a problem if filling small reservoir as in a pistol sized airgun. The larger the reservoir and the more air it needs the easier it is to control fill rate.

Dammit, stop fuckin’ about with the avatars.

LOL, you said DH.

Standard fill gauge should be ok. Just fill as DH says…

No,

While it is ideal it is not necessary.

Here is the catch. You should be the only person to fill guns from your tanks. The reason being is to fill properly you will only “crack” open the tank valve and fill very slowly to the gun.

If the tank is opened full blast then you will shit your pants. That is where the regulator comes in.

Slow good, Fast Bad…..Just like sex, so she claims 🙄
