Q:

Questions about Aussie airgun laws

Long story short….I brought my condor with me to Korea. Customs confiscated my air pump, airtank, scope, pellets and barrel. The custom officals said I can take it out of the country or get a license to have them in the country. A mate is going back to Australia in about a week. I want him to take the mentioned items with him to Australia. What is the Australian laws regarding airguns? Would he get in to trouble with any of the mentioned items? My friend hasn’t got a clue about this so I figure some of you guys or gals are Australian and might know. Thanks

You need to talk to Lewis Rienhold of Beeman Australia. He can fill you in on what you need to know.

I checked with another friend who is also australian and he said airguns are classified as “A” requiring a license to own….but back to my original question, would any of the previously mentioned items listed be banned from import? It’s not an airgun. Minus the pellets, everything else seems harmless………..yes I do see the folly in that reasoning. I guess my best bet would be to ask another friend to call the regional police or airport and ask. Thanks for your input guys

I have not lived there for some time but they did class air guns as firearms in Australia and were strictly regulated. If you tried to take it in to Australia you would be arrested and the gun would be destroyed. You require a “A” class firearms licence. It must also still have the working safety fitted as all guns in Australia must have this. But as said your best to call the police over there and just ask for up to date laws.

I’m not 100% about them, but when I worked at the fly shop in truckee some Aussie chaps wanted me to disassemble their 2240s and mail them the pieces pice by pice because they were illegal there and they all had bought one wile in the states and were heading home soon, I declined.

I would call some random cop shops in australia and ask them what the laws are
