Silent joy.

My silencer is 11″ long and 1 & 3/4″ OD. Half of it’s internal length (frame end) is crudely baffled (an inner secondary tube with holes in it), the rest is empty space. I have it on my 24″ barrel so that the rear end is up against the end-cap, which leaves the barrel’s muzzle about 2 & 1/2″ shy of the silencer’s muzzle. Suprisingly this made a significant difference outside (indoors it’s hard to tell much difference, with or without silencer it was ear-ringingly loud).

So I’d been thinking about modding it, adding a secondary holed tube to the empty bit, with scotch-brite around it. Got lazy and figured I wanted to try it with something easy before doing loads of machining. A piece of bog-roll cardboard was cut along it’s length, and I punched holes in it. Crap (aptly). 😆 Then I remembered seeing hair-rollers pictured elsewhere on TAG. Sent my son to the wife to see if she had any (never seen her wearing them, but had vague memory). She had three. Cut one a bit shorter, added another, wrapped scotch-brite around them (and they had like a velcro fur on them, which gripped the SB real nice), put it all back together and fired off a round into the sky which sounded like a damp fart. Yay! Then I decided to vent the bushing a bit better and put SB around the original secondary tube, held in place with gaffer-tape. The shot now sounds like somebody dropped a weight-lifter’s disc wrapped in a duvet onto a concrete floor (a dull thud).

And I now hear the legendary tank-ping. 😆
