New Talon tank…where is the bell curve?
Well, as I told you before, I got new Talon tank and was waiting for chrony to arrive. Actually, before chrony came I started shooting it. I filled up till 3K jsut to see how it goes. It went pretty well.
Usualy would expect some slow vel. at that fill pressure. After tank went down to 2800PSI POI went down. And as pressure went down the POI went down as well.
So, I got the chrony and went right to it. Filled it to 2800PSI and vel. started from 850fps and as pressure went down vel. went down all the way to 789fps. I have never seen a bell curve.
I than, tried TH adjustments first down to 0.70 PW on 4- no difference.
Next put it 0.100 PW on 4 – no change, same velocities, around 830-860fps. Next 0.112 PW on 0 – same thing.
My Condor tank has very clear bell curve, but this one doesn’t.
Am I doing something wrong here?
I am not so inspired with my every 8 shots POI going down.
If you guys have any ideas please help me or I am about to ship it back to PA and get me another Condor tank instead.

The extra hammer weight might be too much for the talon valve even at 3000 psi?
I think I tried 3K fill and PW1. But I will try it again and see what happens.
So, if I understand correctly, it seems like Talon tank doesn’t have such a dramatic curve like Condor tanks do. If that is the case than I have learned something I have not heard before about.
I must admit I am little bit disappointed about it.
My Condor .18 barrel with Condor tank gives me nice curve within 908-979fps and back to 904fps over 36 shots starting from 2450PSI. That keeps all my shots close to zero with little going up.
Maybe I just play with it little more and see if I can make something I like out of it.
Funny thing is that I shot three crows today on my property with this tank from 50yards without knowing that I had Talon tank on my Condor. I thought I had Condor tank and grabed the rifle in a hurry when I saw they land on the tree in my back yard. Three shots three dead crows. Maybe it’s a sign to keep the tank.
Fill to 3,000 with PW 1…That outta do it
There’s going to be a curve of some sort. Even if it starts high and gets lower. Ideally you want it to start low, hit a high and progress back down toward the first low shots with as little deviation as possible. Thus, the ‘bell’ curve.
maybe your condor hammer and that talon tank dont really agree—i noticed when I shot heavy pellets sam yang .20s that are 24 grains in an 18 barrel- talon tank/stock SS– the velocity was of course not really high but started at a high of 800 and shot down to 760s–from 3000 psi —and thats at high pw settings 8 -9—-unusual for my talon —with lighter pellets 13-14gr i see a a nice shallow rise and fall of velocity when pw setting is a more moderate setting 4-5 or so — at high setting 8-9 or so velocity starts high and reaches top velocities in as few as 5 shots and remains at those highs for as many as 30 shots before speeds creep back then drop off to the original lows…I think you should maybe try a pellet on the lighter end of the scale and leave the adjustments as they are to realize the curve -just assumin youre using a heavy pellet in .22- i could be wrong -totally…
With a talon tank on my .177 condor I never saw a curve . The higher the fill the higher the fps . Marvin
