Q:

unbelievable crony of sumatra 2500???

Has anyone ever experienced such unbelievable numbers???

I don’t know if the crony is broken, or what????

I did a 40 shot string on my condor after these unrealistic numbers and to my surprise the crony seemed to be working fine.(I will post those results under condor) Below are the numbers on the sumatra .25 cal. (brand new, first time firing)

Please offer any advise as I am new to this hobby and I humbly ask the opinions of the many experts on this forum.

The built in air meter has the number 20 at the line where it goes from green to red, red being 21 all the way to 30…. I can’t see what it says at the bottom, i.e. joules, psi, etc. (too small for my eyes to read…)All I can tell you is that when filled to this number 20, my gauge on my tank reads 3,000psi.

The first shots were done with the air gauge reading 18. The power wheel on medium, using 43 g samyang pointed pellets.

shot count

1: 190.3
2: 190.9
3: 194.3
5: 506.4
6: 195.3
7: 511.8
8: 515.2
9: 506.2
10: 505.6
11: 497.8
12: 499.7
13: 497.1
14: 487.2
15 488.7
16: 487.6
17: 487.2

ending pressure: 15. Below is where it gets wierd…

next string of shots were on a 20 fill (assuming 3000 psi) with power wheel on max power

shot count

1: 1798
2: 1913
3: 1684
4: 1798
5: 442.9
6: err
7: 558.6
8: 506.6
9: 566.5
10: 609.2
11: 599.5
12 3250??????what?????
13:853.6
14: 948.4
15: 1034
16: 999.0
17: 1045
18: 1497
19: 1396
20: 1485
21: 168.7??????????????
22: 177.4
23:177.9
Ending pressure was: 13

After these odd fluctuations in numbers I checked for accuracy from 10 yards. It shot 1.25″ group of 5 with the 43 grain samyangs. This was from a kneeling position, if from bags, it most likely would have been even better, so it seems that the accuracy was not bad….as aforementioned, after I did this crony, I got my condor and cronied it for a 40 shot count and these numbers (which I posted under condor specific forum) did not appear abnormal as did the sumatra.

NOW IT GETS EVEN WIERDER!

I pulled out the sumatra again for another crony:

Shot count

medium power, air gauge reading 16

1: 1887
2:2199
3:2121
4:2937
5:3320
6:3535
7:4937
8:4554
9:6932
10:9233 ???????????????
11: err
12 err

This is unbelievable. this 12 string count produced these seemingly unreal numbers, but before I did it I produced a 40 shot count with my condor ranging from1002 to 1353 (see condor specific).

So please tell me what you think. Is my crony defective? Is my sumatra possessed? I truly appreciate your help.

Thank you ❗

one word….artificial lighting….energy saving bulbs, fluorescent, LED, tv’s, monitors etc…….regular bulb can even do this….(they blink and it confuses the chrony)

what you want is old style bulbs as light source with old fashion wire that is glowing inside…and you want those with a lot of wire in there about 20-40w right above the diffusers

That was WAAAAAAAAY more than one word.

ok im sorry….2 words and an explanation

Yes, I was just reading in the DIRECTIONS,

I meant, instructions 😳

If all else fails, read the instructions! 😀

Thanks for all the input. This forum is the best! Yes, I have the sky screens, I will work out more strings in a few days, thanks again guys 🙂

Also check the battery, put your tounge on it.
Use the skyscreens, if ya need some I have an extra set, for a small fee that is. I shoot over mine at about 20′, also put a protection metal channel in front to protect it, I use a printer, so I can record and see the readings, the printer has a 16′ cord on it.

Yes, I was just reading in the DIRECTIONS, go figure, and it said the same thing you did Mr-Lama. I was shooting in my garage without the light diffusers and with excessive florescent lights, also, I was pretty close to the crony with the muzzle, etc. I will try again in a few days. Did you see the numbers I posted under Condor specific. I also cronied it in the garage, but I may have been a little further back from the crony. How do those numbers look? They seemed a little high as well.

Yah, I think that 9,000plus fps would be 8,000 plus foot pounds. My shoulder would be in Cuba after that shot! Thanks for your help guys ❗

Sounds like your going from meters per second to millimeters per second… 😆 😯

You got the prototype that slipped out, super airgun. They use it to shoot down missiles and planes in the military, and a larger caliber to sink ships and destroy tanks. 😛

I had that before. Condor clocked 3000 fps. The reason was too much light over the chrony. Needed to put those white things hooked to the rods over the top. Also, make sure you are a little bit back from the chrony, so the anything blown forwards by the air won’t interfere.

I have a feeling if it was shooting 9000fps it may dislocate your shoulder. 😛
