Finally found some time to play 22XX
as the title states I was finally able to get some time to play with the 2240 last night and I was able to finnish the new shroud(all except paint) for the new 14.6 inch barrel that came from crosman 3 weeks later than it should of 🙄
I have also bought a set of walnut grips from Ralph at RB grips that I had to spend some time on to get them to fit the frame right, they were sightly warped but in no time and just some sanding I got them trued up and fitting flush. I had him put an oil finish on them but that too left a bit to be desired, had to sand them up with some 220 to get them to look good enough for now, but I will defiantly be working on them some more when I have the time, for now I can live with them and cant feel all of the sanding marks he left in them.
I also made up a quick little spring guide and shim, as well as polished the hammer, hopefully I will get some time tomorrow or friday before I go back to work as a bouncer friday night to run it over the chrony and see what it’s doing.
also is anyone running an HDD?
do they do what they claim, or should I not believe the hype?

I have to give WoK credit because I basically copied the one he made that was with it when I bought it, sorry WoK, I do hate someone that can’t come up with there own design for things, but I think it’s going to be awfully hard to top your simplistic yet elegant design.

I did how ever do my own internals and end cap though 😉 and his relief is allot tighter than the one I cut, but then again he has a mill and I just did it with a cut off wheel on the grinder 😆
it is 3/4 inch aluminum tubing and I can’t remember what the i/d was. It’s held on with two barrel bushings and grub screws, and I just came in from shooting it for the first time and let me tell you a nat farts louder than the report of it 8) the dam thing is so quiet that you can not tell is there is a cart in it from a dry fire, I can hear the hammer bouncing multiple times 😯 😕
here are the numbers I got from it, lots of E-2’s and an E-3 that I’ll have to look up(I’ve never seen the E-3) but I think I can tell what it’s doing with the numbers I did get, Oh and was wasn’t giving it any recovery time, so as I loaded another

I had a lacquered pair of his and they were nice.

Thanks, I cut the tube relief on the wrong side of the the lines I drew so I came out a wee bit bigger than I wanted but I don’t think it’ll be that noticeable once I get it all painted up and its longer than I first thought of but that is the pice of tube I had and after I did the booboo on the relief I just went for it, it has three “trumpet” strippers in it so it should be in the nat fart range of things, I still haven’t tested it.
what happened on the grips was just the energy stored in the grain that did what it wanted to when he cut the blank in half, every thing was milled nicely, just warped a bit is all, and I think he takes more time sanding them when he dose a lacquer finnish which will show any imperfections while the oil will hide some. the finnish wasn’t all that bad, I’m just anal when it comes to that type of stuff and think all wood should be smooth as glass, knowing me I won’t be satisfied ’till I have them sanded to at lease 600 🙄 😛
Cool man. I had a set of RB Zebrawood grips that came out and fit real nice. Don’t know what went down with yours. The shroud looks good.
