Q:

Working the Leroy 909

Well it has been a long time coming; it took a year to get her back from Leroy. He did a great job but let me say he ain’t no Tony A. Let’s just say it was a little frustrating. Have not really done much shooting with her until I got my nitrogn tank set up due to the fact she goes through air so fast. I got 50, 219 grain gummy slugs from Jerry a while back and boy do they hit hard. I only ran 3 shot strings she is so loud I can’t see anything hanging around if you miss with the first shot. With a a 3100 psi fill first string was 798.2- 731.9- and 706.8 fps for 307.58-260.56-242.99 fpi second string 802.1-754.7-703.9 fps for 312.94-277.04-241.0 fpi. She has some power and shoots way better then I can hold her. As I get used to the noise and recoil I may be able to do better but I won’t hold my breath. Here she is again and a 40 yard group shot this morning with the gummy slugs off a bench rest.

Awesome groups and numbers to boot. Your gun and those Raptors are accurate to say the least.

I’m glad you finally got her back and shooting again! Hmmm, cloverleaf at 40 yards, looks like those Raptors do OK!

Nice group!

I would give .457 a try in that rifle, and see if that tightens-up your fps variance. (EDIT: nevermind. I forgot you have a .452 barrel hehe).

How much psi is being used for three shots?

thats a damn fine group !….little disappointed that its not more consistent…but then again as i have preached for years now….big bores can have quite a bit of variation in speed and power and it will not be visible on the target, as the BC and weight of the slug counteracts everything we know when shooting a regular pellet

leroy is a nice dude…was on a hog hunt with him….we talked alot about valves and stuff…..and i promised that i would mail him some trophy pictures from the hunt as he had forgotten his camera….when i did…he didnt remember me….and it took him like 2 months to reply back
