Q:

.177 Talon w/ CO2 valve & home made hammer weight 18&quo

I installed the valve from a CO2 adapter & added a hammer weight made out of a bronze bushing from Ace Hardware. I don’t know the weight of it but it is 1/8″ thick. I also replaced the valve spring with a stiffer one from ace as well. Top hat set to .093, 18″ barrel.

My goal is to start near 885 up to 950 & back down to 885 w/ 10.6g Kodiaks. Then 16g Eun Jin’s. Which direction should I go from here? Increase PW setting @ 2100 PSI or higher fill & higher PW?

Should I try & lower the top hat a little to try & get more consistent shots or is this pretty good? The erratic #’s are from using unsorted pellets.

This string seems to be what you were looking for….Now that you
have found that bell curve (sweet spot) and you have the ability to
adjust the power, you need to start shooting
targets across the chrony to see what speed the pellets like the best..
Sometimes different pellets group better at different speeds.
The madness has just begun…..lol…Enjoy, it looks like you have
a keeper….

My last shot string from previous post has the wrong power setting. It should have been 1-14. Today I lowered the fill to 2000 & got these:

CPH 10.5g – 2000 psi fill, PW 4

Thanks, that’s what I was thinking. I plan to get it dialed in for 10.5 g pellets then just increase the PW for the 15g & 16g pellets. I have a box of 21g Piledrivers but are a pile without a probe to properly load them.

Aloha

I assume you mean for the 2500 PSI fill. Should I lower PW, shoot 3 or 4 then top it off back to 2500 each time until I get to the # I’m looking for? If I the FPS go above my target do I then lower PSI & repeat PW adjustments?

Thanks

Thanks Mac, What I meant in the last part was after I get the starting fps @ 915 what do I do if the top of the curve goes above 965? Do I then lower fill pressure & repeat pw adjustments?

Thanks

Oh yea..Gotcha…Yes, you would have to lower the fill pressure. If
you lower the fill psi then you might need to increase the PW some
also or you could start shooting heavier pellets….Heavier pellets
might really make that thing a long range laser….You are searching
for the elusive “Sweet Spot”…It takes time and every gun is different..
There is no one setting for all guns and when you start tinkering and
changing valves then you are treading into unexplored avenues that
take a little more time and effort to conquer…Keep at it, you’ll get it
if you don’t give up….

If setting the PW on 4 still gives you a higher FPS than you want,
try setting it on 0 and go from there….You should be able to shoot
at least 10 shots before you refill but, your understanding of needing
to refill after a few shots is correct….If the FPS is too low with PW
0-4 then you could increase fill psi 100psi at a time until you get
the results you’re looking for…

For the 2500 PSI fill or the 2100 PSI fill?

Keep the same fill pressure and lower the PW to 4….Start shooting
and increase the PW until you get the starting FPS you are looking
for (2 or 3 shots at a time)…Reduce the PW if your starting FPS is still too high…

For the 2500 PSI fill or the 2100 PSI fill?

lower it & use what PSI? Or lower w/ more PW @ same PSI?

Thanks

turn the power wheel down first…

I’d try lowering the top hat alittle.
