Q:

Gamo question.

I have the Gamo Hunter Elite and the Shadow 1000.

I recently purchased some RWS Super Mag 9.3 grain pellets in the .177 kal.

My Shadow is spitting them out with no problem, but the Elite is not, they are going much slower, I can tell by the sound and impact size on water, bottles and wood etc…

I shoot my 8 grain pellets fine from the Elite, but the RWS hits much, much lower. eg, JSB center. rws goes down 1 mil dot. ;(

I don’t have that problem with the Shadow, all my 8 grain and RWS pellets hit in the same area.

Any reason why this would happen?

I guess my Shadow is more powerful? Or would I have to get a new spring for the Elite?.. What do you guys think?

Thanks

-Matt

DeutschKSK Adam called it right. I have a pimped out 1000 and it’s a sweet shooter but it’s pimped out. I have test many pellets with the Gamo’s due to my son’s have them and the pellet size makes a big difference in the barrels of the guns. Gamo’s love big size pellets due to the barrels are not chocked. RWS from what I have seen are under sized and the they shoot slower and I think it’s due to the thick pellet skirt that may not flare (due to pressure) to keep the press. behind the pellet. JSB AND Beeman FTS are the best one’s for the Gamo’s. I have had some good pellets with Crosman, but the work much better when lubed with Krytech Finish line. I shot I pimped out Gamo S1K (Shadow 1000) at an FT match in Hunter class and it was one shot from from the top springer. Hunter class is at 12x on the sciope with NO clicking all hold over. The top springer was shooting at 32 power on the scope and he is a very good shooter and he clicks his scope.

That’s a fact of guns. Even the most expensive powderburners and airguns just flat won’t shoot some ammo. A buddy of mine brought his ar-15 out with my blaser a few weeks ago and he had some cheap federal ammo. My blaser (which easily shoots good ammo well under .25moa) couldn’t get anything better than a 2″ group with it. Just flat would not shoot.
