went out for a shoot to find that my bottle has dumped all the air.
iits been bloody hot here today and i can only think the at the pressure got a bit to high for the burst disk so it did what it does best… empty 2500psi.

sorry for any confusion but i am using a paintball setup not the standard gunpower/airforce setup.
when the bottle went it was packed up in its case in the coolest area of my house. dont quiet get it but i will head to a apintball centre nearby and see if they have what i need to get it up and running again.
As I recall the story, the tank has to go back to AF to have the new safety fitted. It’s not a standard size, nor do they sell ’em.
Bad break. FWIW it musta got really really hot. The same tank could have been charged to 3000 psi and had a ‘500 psi head start’. Seems to me if that’s what actually happened we should be seeing a bunch of blow outs?

Happy pumping 😆 Where Is your bottle kept. I remember a post on here ahile ago saying how hot It would need to be before the bottle blew but can’t remember what was said about burst disks.

As for the burst disk is it now broken or do i need to do anything to it? it looks the same but when i tried to put some air into the bottle it leaked out around the burst disk.
At least you weren’t around otherwise you’d have to replace burst disk, get it refilled AND buy a new set of skivvies.

Ah, that makes more sense then. An obvious overfill….you should get a scale and weigh the tanks after filling. You need to read tenths of ounces to a couple of pounds. I write the empth weight on each valve body.
I’ve got a couple of ‘postage’ or ‘Diet’ scales that do this that cost me $25 or so but also just got this one, really neat:
Very neat little scale, goes to 36 ounces, IMO cheap insurance. Even if you don’t fill your own (like a lot of us do), you know from first hand experience sometimes the shops are happy to give you a little more than you paid for. The key is to find that out and vent the extra before it warms up (I used to take the scale in the car and weigh the tanks in the parking lot before I got my 20# tank (which is also recommended). I got two overfills out of several dozen over two or three years. All from the same shop, the same guy did both overfills (they don’t weigh……).
Yes, PB safeties are pretty common, most shops will have them. I see them at 1800 psi, sometimes 3000. They’re easy to change out (I’ve bought tanks with blown ones and one that leaked there), a couple of bucks each. You might try the shop that overfilled your tank, seems to me they owe you another safety and a free fill?
