bsa scorpion t 10 bull barrel makes funny…
…sound when filling it up. When it gets to about 1200 or 1500 psi a weird squeaking sound can be heard from within the yoke (I think pressure gauge on yoke) Almost sounds like the torquing and cracking of wood on an old ship. Then the gauge will make a click/pop sound, and the pressure needle will drop way down as if it slipped, then it will catch again and start filling. I kept it going and it made it to its fill pressure with no problem.
When I tested another rifle to see if this happened again (condor) it did not re-occur. The condor filled up nice and smooth. After I shot the BSA and refilled it, it did it again.
Does anyone have any experience with this sort of thing??? I appeal to the pcp masters as I am but a wee bitty grasshopper. Please help???? 😥

Not long, 30 sec maybe? I get no sound then. But it’s never good to fill to fast, whether you get the noise or not. I doubt the valve likes it, and things can really heat up which I avoid.
My luck it will explode and wake up the family to find me lying there in the garage…its late, so I’ll just get to bed and crony it this weekend, thanks for all your help, goodnight.

It’ll probably explode next time I fill it, so I won’t do it tonight because it would wake up the family, I’ll blow it up tomorrow. 😛
Thanks Saugus, I am glad to hear that my gun is normal. I guess I reallly should have asked about the noise when i first got the gun. I will try slowing down on the fill. How long would you say it takes you to fill your tank?

When I first got my s410 and filled it, it didn’t make any sound. But it wasn’t shooting right either. When I got the action back from PAG Steve, it made that same sound on my first fill when getting it back. I didn’t know what the hell it was, and really couldn’t tell right away where it was even coming from. But yeah, if I fill a bit to fast, the sound starts as soon as the valve starts taking air in, if I go slower, no sound at all.
I brought this up with Steve the next time I talked to him, he said it’s pretty normal. His Rapid does it to.
I feel like setting up the crony and seeing what kind of numbers it produces. AOA sent a print out of a ten shot count averaging 930 with jsb 15.8’s with a 15 es. That rifle feels really good, real quiet too.

Then if it did explode you still might die horribly… and everyone would think you’d been welding the tank and be “ohhh no wonder it exploded”…. lol
I ask allot of dumb questions, but the dumbest question is the one that is never asked. Being a newbie, I was waiting for the thing to explode in my face…I threw on a welding mask as I filled it just to be safe 😯
The sound it was making sparked a memory from one of my favorite shows as a kid: “Danger, Will Robinson”.
I am glad you made this post. Every time I fill my air tank I think that i should ask a similar question. Whenever I fill my Air Arms S410ERB the tank/valve makes a high pitch whine sound. The sound doesn’t start until the pressure in the hose overcomes the tank pressure then it lasts until I shut off the air. Other than that it works great. Thanks for asking a question that I should have asked already.

Thanks guys…Also, BSA supplies this little restrictor screw that they say must be inserted in the filling adaptor, “or the gun may be damaged”. I filled it with this, then I filled it without. AOA said that they never use them when they fill BSA’s.
My scuba tank is 3,000 psi. This gun has a fill of 232 bar. I will have to save up for a better tank.
One thing that seems odd is that in the instruction manual it says that at 232 bar the .22 cal (FAC 24 ft lbs) should get 20 shots. This seems very little does it not? Or is it just me? and I wonder how many shots I will really get when I fill to 2800 psi (which is were my tank is at now). I counted 26 shots before it started pouring rain, and the poi wasn’t shifting. Will it remain constant because it is a “self regulated” gun and then all of a sudden just “piff” out the last pellet, or will it drop off like unregulated guns????
I shot some decent groups with it, despite the fact that I was fumbling with sighting in the scope at the same time. I mounted a Leupold Mark 4 by using UTG picatinny adapters, but it was way too high, putting my poi way too low not to mention a very uncomfortable cheek spot (almost straight up neck position). I am going to nix this setup and mount a 3×9 instead. I will post some numbers next week.
My US FT and both regulated tanks do the same thing…
you might be filling it slowly enough so the valve closes and then re-opens….
Sometimes the fill guages needles are dampened so they wont make sudden movements and will appear to jerk.
Thanks Yellow Ninja. Some of my other ones make noises too, but this noise was much different. What about the fact that it clicked and popped and the needle in the pressure gauge jumped down then reset itself before rising again?? I will try to fill slower.
I’ve had guns make high pitched noises before – The fill valve opening and air rushing past it. Depends on the shape of the seal and profile of the seat and how fast you fill.
Try filling slower.

Thanks Saugus. I think I am filling even slower than that. I watch the indicator needle on my gage and it is moving very slowly. I will try to go Very Very slow next time and see if the noise goes away. Thanks again.
