Fishing rod silencer
Ive made several silencers for my theoben rapids in the past using delrin for the tube . But delrin tube is quite expensive and on my little lathe takes ages to machine down to size (comes in 45mm od 30mm id so have to turn it down to 32mm od) . Ive always fancied making one out of carbon fibre but it costs a fortune .
A mate gave me an old carbon fishing pole to have a play with (cost .99pence off ebay) and this is how it turned out .

It measures 11″ in total but 2 1/2″ slides back over the barrel with a vented barrel bush .
Never thought to take a pic of the innards but there similar to the pics below except the carbon tubing is bigger (approx 40mm od ,38mm id)so I drilled 6 x 8mm vents instead of 10 x 5mm vents as pictured .I also threaded it 1/2″ unf .

The Carbon fishing rod tube is very slightly tapered but its not noticeable to the eye . Its very straight along its length so is ideal for making silencers where the baffle alignment is dictated by how straight the tube is .
