Q:

Weird shit.

After test-firing the new .25 barrel I was getting only 930fps at 2500psi, so I put more spacers in. Didn’t seem to make much difference. Then discovered I could have done a better job of cleaning the shipping-grease out of the barrel, also improved the lead-in to the breech. Then got 1068 from 3000psi, but after ten shots was down to 2000psi (and fps dropped steadily with each shot down to 956 on the 10th). Pablo reckoned it sounded like it was using too much air (shots sounded wooly insted of sharp), so I removed approx 60% of the spacerage, so much that the breech is under zero pre-load when back against the frame. With the bottle in place it has about 3mm of load on the spring. First two shots, 1100fps (3000psi). I’m going to do another eight shots and see what happens to the fps and psi.

One crazy valve. 😯

If I were there I’d shoot your chrony too 🙂 They ARE ugly, after all, and do ask to be put out of their misery.

2 shrouds and a chrony !!!! 🙁

Time to hang it up for the day and have a pint.

Four times I’ve pumped the bottle from zero to 3000psi this afternoon,

I don’t envy you there 😆 When I had to do mine a few times It’s a right ball ache! Using the C02 adaptor It makes It much easier to unscrew the valve and add more spring tension with no need to drain the tank. I’ll keep an eye out for your progress 😉

I’ve put in the non-o-ring valve and it’s working ok so far. The spring arrangement is nothing like Airforce’s. The way I’ve designed it is what’s responsible for the valve opening so easily. Doesn’t work with a weaker main-spring (pellet came out so slowly I could see it go), but a 50% lighter hammer (45g) seems to be working ok. Unfortunately the chrony got busted before I was able to get any numbers with it.

Four times I’ve pumped the bottle from zero to 3000psi this afternoon, and busted my chrony, so I’m a bit pissed. But such is R&D I guess. 😆

I’d let you use my chrony but I don’t think It would be safe 😆 Shooting the silencer off – SHIT! 😯 My frame Is vented so any extra air gets pumped out there when I get a tank dump but I guess that will make no differance when you have the 24″ jobbies on.
I’m In no rush but still would like to try It out when you’re sorted 😉 I was gonna ask you to make me another 3.5mm stem for my spare vale as I’ve seen a few foxes around, but thought I may try out your valve 8)

About the dumps – I’ve had a few (Tanks dumps that Is 😆 ) I don’t know If your valve works the same as the gunpower one but usually winding In the spring retainer slightly usually solves the problem. It has worked for me many a time anyway. You probably allready know this but thought I’d just mention It 😆 8)

I think I damaged the o-ring in the valve when I dumped the tank by screwing the bottle on against a locked breech. That fired the end-cap of the silencer into the ceiling. Pumped back up to 3000psi and lost most of it when I let off the bleed-knob. Opened the valve up, cleaned it out, o-ring seemed ok, pumped back up to 3000psi, put in a weaker main-spring and a lighter hammer, first shot was very weak. Put another spacer in, put the chrony on, fired it and the tank dumped again, blowing the silencer (a different one) right across the yard into the backstop and destroyed the chrony.

Sorry Fusion, I totally forgot about your PM. 😳 I have no surplus valves right now, I have one proven one that goes on my .22, these .25 jobbies are still being tested. Soon as I’ve replaced the chrony I’ll be testing the one that has no o-ring fitted.

I suppose a lighter hammer and spring will help downrange accuracy too Pabs with having a little less recoil so to speak.
I’ve still got my stock stealth spring and hammer here If your strugling to find something weak enough Lang 😆

Valve is opening crazy easily even at 3000psi. Was wasting alot of air. Lang in the process of installing lighter hammer and spring…( I’m not there, connected by Skype)

How does the .25 shoot then Lang? ’tis strange about the valve but If I put too much packing on my spring It decreases MV but using next to non at all 😕 Did you get my last PM about your valve??
