Test Results. .25

Here are the Test Results as promised using
1. 31 Gr Kodiaks
2. 70.6 Gr 7 Ring Slugs from Jerry’s Kid’s 😀
3. 87.7 Gr. 9 Ring Slugs from Jerry’s Kid’s

The gun is a 21″ Bbl. from Walt. Filled to 2600 psi. Power wheel at 8.8 top hat at .070

Valve is stock. But polished interior. Valve spring retainer has bee ported and polished.

Green Crony 😆

1. Kodiak’s went through the screens at—1020 for a fpe of ——–71.633

2. 7 Ring Slug’s went through at ———–761 for a fpe of ———-90.809

3. 9 Ring Slug’s went through at ———–720 for a fpe of ———100.976

I was a bit surprised that the 9 rings were only 41 fps slower than the
7 Ring slugs.

The nine ring were especially tight. They were VERY hard to seat. To the point that while using the butt of an aluminum knife handle, it actually dented the breach end of the bbl. No way I could seat them with my thumb. Oddly, the Gen I slug’s I had here for testing were much looser. Some were loose, some tight, but none as tight as the new ones.
I will say that the new ones were VERY consistent. Nice work Jerry’s Kid’s! 😀

Now for the accuracy. The 7 Ring Slug’s were spot on. They of course printed lower than the Kod’s as would be expected for over double the weight. T accuracy was much better than expected. And quite a bit better than the Gen-I’s I tested just recently.
I did notice a rapid shift with loss of velocity. AT 2600 Psi, they printed tight for 3 shots, then shifted about 1″ down and slightly left for the following three shots. The first group was tight! The second group opened slightly, but still fantastic for what they are intended to do. The first group fell in at well under 3/4″. The second group opened up to apx. 1 inch.

The 9 Rings don’t seem to like my gun or visa versa. They shot lower again, as expected with their heavier weight. However the group is well over 1 inch. Looks like the 7 rings are going to be the ticket for me and my gun. Shame I didn’t have a few of th 6 Rings from the new batch to try out along side of the others. As it stands. WooHoo on the 7 Rings!!!

All of these groups were shot at 50 yards. About the max I would want to try to take a wild pig. So the groups indicate that in my gun at least, they preform very well indeed! They should be up to the task on any pig hunt with a properly placed shot.

While shooting through the crony, I used a piece of heavy counter top material placed in front of a heavy arrow stop bag. . It was over 1 inch thick and far too hard to drive a nail through. The slugs destroyed it! Giving me a good indication of the kind of penetration that can be expected on tough game.

I know Jerry and others shoot Big Bore air guns on a regular basis. But I’m a newby. even to this medium caliber. If someone had told me a year or two ago that a pellet gun could have this kind of power well I would have politely listened with tung in cheek. 😆 I know I’ve read here time and time again that the .25’s were heavy hitters, But Dam!!!
