Q:

Talon VS Talon SS

Hi guys my name is Gustavo and i’m about to pick up my first co2/hpa airgun.
I don’t know mutch but after reserch a lot i decided to buy a talon.
First because i want something small cause a travel a lot and without the tank she became real tine, lighit weight and less expensive.
But i don’t decided yet how talon a will get.
I just know that for now i will use CO2, cause it’s cheap and very easy to fill in my town. And i want .177 caliber.
So i want some opinions. And I have some questions.
I tried a lot but i don’t find any talon or talon ss cronograph.
Someone have cronograph one of them?
I want to know the real diference of VO for the 12″ barrel to the 18″ barrel.
How many shots can i get with each one of them using a 12oz tank?
And what can i do to get a feel more fps with her.
Tks guys!

Tks JD for your info. Until know i almost decided for the talon with 18″ barrel, most of it cause i want at least 700fps on .177 caliber using co2.
So know i want to know if anybody have the project to do a sound moderator for the talon with 18″ barrel looks like the talon SS with the 12″ barrel?

when i first got my SS .177 it was on co2- in the warmer weather i got 580s-650s–in the winter here in the southeast (US) low to mid 500s that is with the 12″ barrel——— with my first upgrade the 18″ .177 barrel– i was getting high 600s low 7s————–only with mid weight pellets like beeman fts at 8.8 — jsb 8.4s beeman bear cubs at 8.0—- i was floored when i upgraded to hpa —all the 10 grainers -jsb 10.2- kodiak 10.6 premier 10.5s were leaving the barrel at over 1000fps at near max pw settings—-24 foot pounds ——tons and tons of shots in the 880-920 range…

Tks again my friend, but i asked on the topic about velocites on a .177 caliber. And those velocites that you show me are .22 caliber.

Tks man! That helps a lot! I normaly use gamo pellet. Pro Magnum, Pro hunter and match. But since i still don’t have my talon i can’t tell you what pellet i will use, cause you know that who choose the pellet is the gun not the shooter. Ok?
Tks again!
Now i just need to know som chrony numbers from a 18″ barrel talon!

gafhs, with the Power Wheel set on 5 you should be getting an FPS of
611 with an 18″ barrel. With the Power Wheel set to 10, you should
be getting and FPS of 631.
This post gives you FPS for several different barrel lengths…

Ok them! Tks! So i think talon with 18″ barrel is the best opition for power. About the temperature i don’t have this problem. In my town we always have between 20 and 35 graus celcius.
I realy want to see some chrony numbers of the two talons for help me to decide.

Sorry for the avatar!
Thanks for those infos Yellow Ninja!
But what i want to ask is what can i do to get a litle bit more fps using co2 to shoot?

I think the only way to get more FPS with co2 is to use a longer barrel…The longer the barrel the faster the pellet will fly…Co2 is a constant psi output unless it gets heated….In the
winter outdoors the co2 will be weak and shoot slower. Summer time when warm outdoors will be more FPS…

Please make that avatar a “lil” smaller 😀

with HPA The SS (12″) is around 26 fpe, the Talon (18″) is a little bit over 30 fpe. Both will get similar shot counts at max power – if you turned down the Talon to SS velocities then that would get more shots.

I cant answer any questions regarding CO2 because I’ve never used it with these guns. To get more power from HPA you can drill out the valve stem or a buy a Condor valve (or bottle and valve). That will give you around 44 fpe with the 12″ barrel or 50+ with the 18″ barrel if I remember correctly.

The 4-5 fpe doesnt make much of a difference and the quiet was more important so I went with the SS.
