My new to me 80CF Luxfer Air Tank
Well fellas and others—-I broke down and made a few calls around to local dive shops —there are maybe 4 all within 15 minutes from me—scored a nice used luxfer aluminium 80cf tank with standard k valve — for 150 bucks — they filled it to what should be a sweet 3150-3200 psi after it cools… –ordered my fill kit from airhog this morning———from what i understand — i should get about 11 fills from 3100psi in my luxfer—-and something like 15 from 3200psi in it.– the shop mentioned they can go as high as 3500psi -not in my luxfer but some of their other high pressure stuff….but will willingly fill my tank to 3200-3300psi—and thats something like 20 fills according to the airhog calculator…..cant wait — I will have a used af pump for sale real soon—— 😀

Just a tip: on this side of the big water, fire departments use smaller 4500psi carbon fiber breathing air tanks, that they have a big compressor for, plus they’re usually pretty nice guys, especially the volunteer departments
i know a guy in our local department, he fills my tank for free, but i’m sure he’d do it for someone else as well for a few beers :p
if they’ll do it for a 24 year old kid like me, they’ll do it for you old geezers, you just gotta know how to bring it up 😀

When my hand pump broke, I was doing all kinds of looking into tanks and even compressors in the Spring. Ended up talking to a guy at a dive shop who had a 190cf steel tank that gets filled to 4350. It’s not one of those huge industrial tanks. It’s about 3 1/2 feet tall. It weghs 80 pounds empty. 🙁 But there was no way I was sinking any more money into a hand pump.
But I don’t shoot anywhere else than home and I figure from the calculator that I’ll get somewhere around 150 fills from it. 😆 I am up to about 30 now.
This tank was actually one that was designed for divers to put on their back. But they didn’t sell too well.
The good thing about a steel tank (or aluminum I guess) is that there is no year in the future when then are trash. You just keep getting them inspected and hydroed.

yeah a 4500 psi tank would be dynomite —but ive called around couldnt find shops that fill that high—ill be happy with 8-10 fills for now —they had either a 103 or 108cf steeltank —it was 450.00 but would be able to be filled to 3500psi…..I will more than likely hold onto my hand pump and just use it to topp off from the 2600 psi range- i only fill to a hair over 2850… jsbs 13.7 in .20 dont use much air at all to get them going….. 😀

That’s ok, I have a carbon fiber tank (88) on the way. Walt in H. found it at Mac 1 for me! 😀

Its here…..! My all backasswards AirForce Scuba yoke assembly….Yeehaw! Spoke with the sweet lady at airforce and asked her -about spinnin’ the guage 180 -i wasnt sure about wether it was bottomed or not- in my most round about way asked her simply – if i spin it 180 and break the guage – can yall friendly folk down in The Republic ship me off a new one???— well it all worked out–spun it 180 –and all is well–performed my first official topp off from 2700 psi —- and made real sure i two handed the valve knob—stopped at an indicated 200bar on the fill guage—-laoded the first premier power wheel is set at 8—and the typical 880fps thru the chrono—- 8) cool the fill adaptor and the handpumps guages are real close as far as indicated pressures -on filling. 😀
