Q:

over powered gunpower stealth oops!

hi just a short story about my gun and hopefully some help for people with a similar problem.
iv just bought a gunpower stealth and my mate bought a new BSA R-10, very nice. we went out shooting together for the first time with our new guns and found that the gunpower was hitting targets hard and when hunting was getting alot of over penetration even with domes. so i tested it and it was over the legal 12flb for the u.k, it was sitting at 17flb with 21.4 grain pellets, oops! well i ended up buying a DVD from ebay on how to tune, detune and maintain my gunpower stealth. i ended up taking the gun to bits then found the problem was a bush/spacer in there that was beefing up the tension on the spring took it out and with a bit of tinkering put in a much thinner one. tested it again now the gun sits about 10.5-11.5flb and that’s with 21.4 grain pellets so am all good now. the DVD was very helpful and very easy to follow but the guys voice was a bit annoying though, lol.
hope this helps in some way?
thanks mark

He’s right, a cannon is way overboard… that’s why I use my M1917 Enfield.

Tasaey choice, although an ’03A3 would be more trditionsl…..SMLE for the Brits, of course.

if you don’t have a safe shot just don’t take it

seems simple enough to me…

Hopefully eveyone here uses the same rule, which should take care of some of the intentional mistakes at least. Accidents still happen, of course.

For the same reason I don’t use a firearm when an airgun will do, a more powerful than necessary airgun is often a poor choice IMO.

A 45ftlbs gun isn’t neighbourhood friendly IMHO even if it is quiet. If you miss, no way telling where it will end up and at what power. 12ftlbs to 14ftlbs in .177 is plenty for suburban varmint hunting!

As stated just my $0.02.

I’m shooting about 75 FPE in .25. I made a ‘backstop’ … a box containing a thickness of 2×6 pine board, a 3/4″ plyboard and a folded pair of denim jeans. It went through the box, another 1/2 plyboard wall behind it and some plastic containers behind the wall. This is why I don’t find much opportunity to shoot at home. 😯 It’s quiet tho!

Can any of you U.S guys justify spending all the dough the do over there for a 12 ft. lb. gun?

Maybe. If I needed something quiet and neighborhood friendly, I could.
Chris

I have one with a 12 inch barrel shooting somewhere around 40 – 45 ft lbs and is dead quiet and neighborhood friendly, so I’m not sure your statement holds water 😉

i agree with Loki_762, the stealth/talon ss is an awesome gun under 12flb can kill at 40-50 yards no probs with a good head shot (only shoot at this distance if you know your gun, scope and distance very well, otherwise DON’T DO IT! not good if you miss or hit the quarry in the wrong places i.e body shot) and the gun is very quiet but only after a fue mods have been done like the ones on http://www.talontunes.com i.e hammer slap mod, vented bushings and extra silencer will make it silent without pushing you flb up. i love my gun and cant wait to mod it more (aesthetics that is) wood grips, alloy cocking bolt, adjustable butt plate ect.
