Input on The Dragon Slayer
I’m looking into buying a .50 cal Dragon Slayer.How much power am I actually looking at? Is it worth the investment?

Congrats on your Dragon! Let us know how you like it.
One thing I noticed is that you have the “other stock” on yours. Did you get a brand new gun or used?
My stock (brand new) is not the same as yours. Anyone know why some might ship with one as opposed to the other.
Also, did yours come with the muzzle crown/protector? Mine did not.

I realize the custom guns will extend your range alot but, if we are talking 75 yards and under will the dragon slayer drop a deer? I bet the answer is no problem. I watched a deer hunting video on it but not sure of range the deer was shot at .
As you can see by my avatar I got my Dragon Slayer . Don’t have any numbers on it yet but I’m VERY happy with it.
As most of you guys said there are more powerful guns out there but I’ll tell ya’ this gun REALLY PACKS A PUNCH.
I’ve been trying out 225-275 grain bullets and by the looks of it (again I have no exact numbers) the gun likes all of them and so do I.
My next buy HOPEFULLY will be a DQ .458 LA Outlaw or the Outlaw pistol if it’s at all possible .
Anyone own any of these 2 that can give input on them?
Or wants to sell them 😉 .
I have a DS and love it.
Have not modded it or even checked it full power, (the probe rings broke and could not refill it until new rings came in), but at a little over 2,000psi it was doing 150fpe. I am sure with the additional 1,000psi it would make a good difference in power.
A lot more powerful guns out there, but I like how accurate this is and the feel and balance is great.
If I can not hit with a gun or it is too heavy, inaccurate, etc. it does no good.
I would rather a gun with less power I will use and can hit with.
I just wish it would get 60 full power shots per fill:)
I have a Dragon Slayer that is Modded by myself but it is only making 250 FPE with 200+ grain Slugs. She is very accurate and has a great feel to her.
But, if you like power, i would have to say that the 909’s are a better platform. The DAQ’s are hard to get let alone get on the LIST. Others mentioned above also have a waiting list. The Jack Haleys are catching on like wild fire now. And yes, he has guns now that are tuned to the 400 FPE range….(i got one on order..lol.). I would either get a 909s or get on the Jack haley list.
If you want a lot of power out of it, without getting a tune, 909S. I suggest brainshots on hogs unless they are small.
I noticed. Got a carbine on order. Should be pretty sweet.

A few friends of mine are planning a trip to go wild boar hunting either in Texas or Tennessee.
Most of my friends are NOT going to use Air Rifles but I would like to take one with me(Besides my Condor,that will be used for smaller kills).
I would prefer power as opposed to shot count (Kind of like “Better make this shot count” shooting).I don’t mind getting 2-3 shots out of a full tank,Hell I wouldn’t even mind 1 as long as it’s a good one.
Are not a coversion any longer . Hand made all the way with USA made rifle barrels . As mentioned dont know what you are going to do with it but I have a 201 s as well which is a good rifle with some punch to it . Not as big of wound canal but both the tunners I spoke with said they would rather work on it and that they can get almost the same energy out of it as a 909 . By the way did any one notice the full shrouded .32 that Jack has .Marvin

What do you want to do with it? Are you wanting to hunt with it? If so, what type of game?
What is more important to you……shot count, or power? Both the DS, and the Sam Yang are very accurate.
DANM!! I want the Quackenbush LA .457/.458!! Now thats the type of power I’m looking for.
I don’t expect the Dragon Slayer to come anywhere near that type of power but it looks like I’m going to go for it.

The Dragon Slayer will do about half the muzzle energy of some of the custom made big bores. Even then, the Slayer is plenty powerful enough for deer and like sized game with a well placed shot. The trajectory will be pretty loopy for long shots.
FWIW, a .308 at 150 FPE muzzle energy will still blow through about 4″ of pine at 100 yards. Claim is 200+ FPE .308 will exit deer at 200 yards.
The high powered customs… Brontrager, Barnes, Quackenbush, Gargoyle and Big Bore Bob, are a bit hard to come by. The Haley conversions mentioned below are a good buy… I wasn’t aware he was even making them at 400+ FPE yet. Check them out I would.
I just bought a 909 W but have not ran any numbers on it yet . Fit and finish are good trigger is a heavy pull . Talk to Randy he is a air gun hunter and can possibly help you . Here is his site .He also has a forum that you can ask on .

GREAT POST 80!! Tef,power is definitely what I’m looking for.I had read a post where another member (Can’t remember who) had taken out a decent sized buck with a .50 cal..
What would you suggest in a .45 or PREFERABLY a .50 ?
The general thought on the Dragonslayer is that although it is a .50 and very accurate the power is a little on the low side compared to the alternatives such as the .45s out there and that it is very difficult to get more power from. So, if power is the main goal then there are better choices, but the accuracy level is very high.

80,I bought mine from a shop but it was owned by someone else that did some valve work on it (He only had it for a few months).
I had the choice of getting either this one or the newer model.Apparently the newer model is about 4 in. longer than mine but it was stock length NOT barrel length.
Mine also DID NOT come with the protector,and when I looked at the new model it didn’t have one either.
