Q:

Why pay so much for Jerry’s slugs??

The parts; 24″ .25 cal poly barrel on Tony tuned condor/ full mod. 6.5-20 X 50mm Barska varmint scope.
200 bar fill (thank you Nancy & Jim of Percision Airguns).
10 shot strings, drops to 160 bar, repump.
targets from muzzel, 30yds, 50 yds, 70 yds.
Rests, wabbly table for elbows, 3 folded sox for barrel.
As this Condor came from Tony it put 5 Eun Jin 43gr. in one ragged hole at 40 yds PW7, 950 fps.
Started at 30 yds, with 7 rings ( 70 gr.) & 9 rings (88 gr.). PW 10. All stacked in one hole .28 OD.
Went to 50 yds. Tuned scope. Mixed 7’s and 9’s. 5 shot strings, worst one was .56 C/C.
Then out to 70 yds. .78 C/C, 1″ low. I have an old 5 Gl. propain tank with is’s bottom showing (thikest part) next to target. One round of 7r at the bottom gave a little over .5′ dent. Found the parts of the pellet (slug by all rights) with none ovet 12 Gr. all the power had to go somewhere. So the slug just burst, lead foil and little chips.
Well why pay that much money for Jerry’s slugs? Well why indeed!!!

TMR,

Thanks much for posting your results! I’m especially pleased with your results as I was worried we didn’t have a slug that performed well out of the poly barrel. As you know (but few others do) your slugs for the Condor were sized to .252. It appears that the .001 bigger slugs make the difference and allow great accuracy with the poly barrel.

The group sizes you describe are fantastic. Clearly we are getting word from a great shooter/gun/slug combination.

I do have to point out one thing though: these are Barnes slugs by Surefire Casting. My second oldest son Chris (Surefire Casting) makes the slugs from a Barnes mold and Jerry just gets on the net and email selling them! Oh, I drive them to the post office too but after some initial design consultation, all I’ve done is promote and deliver the things!

Yes Tony has given me the nicest rifle I have ever owned in my 60+ yrs. BUT, of all of the pellets I have tryed in this Condor, jerry’s (thanks to you to, Jerome) are by far the best. At 50 yds. and out, none hold as tite as Jerry’s. 35gr. Eun Jins at 50 yds just go into the bark of the alders and stop at the wood. 43’s just a little better. at 70 yds Jerry’s are lost to site even after digging a .75″ deep hole in the wood after passing .5″ or more of dry hard wood bark.(12″X14″ stove wood back stop) E J’s, crow-mag, start to spred out and fly for me after 40 yds. I need to test somemore, but so far Jerry’s just go up or down not side to side. I may hit it in the ear, or I may hit it in the toe, but with these I will hit it.

Gotta’ love Tony’s work 😀
