sudden accuracy problem
Having a major accuracy problem that showed up overnight.
Bought a SS and Bushnell Elite 4200 a couple weeks ago. Sighted in at 25 yards. It’s been shooting spot on = tight groups, pellets go where the cross hairs are aimed. When shooting under or over 25yds, it’s still been spot on using the mil dots. Been using Jumbo Exacts and Heavy Kokiaks. Every time I’ve used it, it’s been 100% accurate, right out of the storage case including using it two days ago.
Took it out of the case today and it suddenly shoots 2 feet right at 25yds, 6 inches right at 10yds. The scope screws are tight. I tried refilling the tank to exactly 3000. Am using the Air Hog Carbon tank for refilling and, just in case the dial is off and the tank was overfilled, I shot 20-30 rounds to get some air out of the tank. All of those shots were 2 feet right at 25 yds, 6 inches right at 10yds.
The barrel looks clean and okay. Everything feels tight, not loose. I checked the top hat. I didn’t change or adjust anything on it in the two days since last used. Any ideas what would cause a sudden, major accuracy problem?

Okay, since this is my first experience with pellet rifles, you’ll have to excuse a rookie mistake.
Wasn’t the shroud, wasn’t mischievous kids, turns out it was a defective scope mount. After I posted the symptoms earlier, I did another examination and discovered the windage hardware on one of the mounts was defective. The scope had moved, yet was holding steady and didn’t feel loose.
Replaced the mounts, sighted in, and its working great again. Thanks again for help with diagnosing.
