Air source question
Hello,
Anyone here uses a combination of 80 cft, 3000 psi scuba tank and a pump as their primary air source for your Airforce gun? I’m asking this because I’m getting an itch to try out a Talon SS but hesitating because of the 3000 psi required fill level. I currently own a couple discos and a marauder and have set them to shoot from 2000 psi. With my 80 cft tank, I get a decent amount of fills, 40 or so. I’m just thinking I’ll be underpower with my tank and might have to invest more $$$ to get a bigger tank.

Talon tanks are alittle better on the high side, my high flow if I go to 2900 I always turn up the powerwheel for 20 shots then back down, I can get by on 2500psi fills and get 25 good shots, the talon tank works better for shot count, if you don’t need alot of air, like for lighter pellets. My ultimate goal is to own my own compressor or get a bottle of nitrox set up, but first I need to quit buying guns period.
My Talon tank fills to 3000 psi just fine and can go to 3100 psi with no problems.
Mine seems to like 2400 to 2500 well enough. Lot more fills with the 80 scuba that way.
I just broke down and bought a 88 cf Carbon Fiber scba tank that fills to 4500 psi. I get a crap load of fills now. And much cheaper buying a used carbon fiber tank with good years left on it than 2 80 cf scuba tanks.
But you do have to find some where to fill it. Dive shops generally can’t fill them. Paint ball shops can with the proper fill adapter, and fire stations can. If they will!

I use my 3000 psi scuba tank for a talon and a condor. I fill to about 2600 psi most times. I also have a pump and have messed with pumping it after I fill from scuba tank. For me why bother its $4 to fill the scuba tank and a 2500 psi fill works fine so you get alot of fills and yes you can top it off with 20 pumps from the af pump
You can fine tune your Talon to use a bit lower fill pressure if you wish…. most do seem to prefer 2800 or so psi… but depending on how they are configured, it very well may prefer a higher fill pressure.
I’ve had two Talons and a Condor and each is different in what they prefer.
Besides… what’s the worst that can happen? You have to pump…. no worries. It’s good exercise.
Nobody fills an Airforce airgun to 3,000 PSI? Because of Valve Lock?
Most fill to 2800/2700 PSI.
A fill to 3000psi will cause valve lock, Meaning the first 10 or less shots will be low fps shots and then higher fps shots for about 20/30 until unusable.(POI drop)
Most fill to 28000 psi (no valve lock) for about 20/30 consistent shots
I use 2 80 cuft scuba tanks and cascade fill for about 23 refills.
1 80 cuft scuba tank filling to 2800 psi will get about 6 refills.

Save money and buy a second scuba tank and cascade fill, will triple the amount of fills from a single scuba.

$300 for both brand new. I use them for diving as well so that reduces my costs. I am interested in the fact that paint ball shops can do the 4500 psi fill? I would buy a high pressure tank if I found a place to fill them.
