red light
Has anyone tried a red filtered varmint light on top of thier scope?
I tried one the other night with some nice results. They are reasonable at cabelas or any other outdoor store. I think I paid 80$ for mine it clips right on the scope tube. I used it in texas on a 22-250 rifle for coyotes at night. they work pretty good maybe not like night vision but a quick easy solution to my racoon problem.

Very true nature that you’ve experienced….
I’ve spent many nights in the wilderness and would return empty handed…cauz the critters just wouldn’t stop with my 450 lumen LED torches….
Its the cheap ones I got from DX for 45$ 😉
But they are really bright upto 60-80 yards.
And then after surfing and doing a bit of homework …I tried the red translucent paper…used for craft work…
I just cut 2 pieces larger than the diameter of the torch head and use a thicker rubber band to wrap around it.
After I am done using it for a night out I just throw it away …cauz you could make hundreds for a few cents….
When they undergo the heat of the torch they tend to tear making it hard to be reused.
After which I’ve got extremely positive results…. !!! : 😯
Those guys just stare as if they were hypnotized…and then a lead tip to the fuse box….

I find that animals stay long enough to whack em so thats good enough for me. I have never tried rat shooting so I cannot say. Coons do not care about the red light.
