Nikko Nighteater 10-50 x 60?
Anyone use this scope? I am in the market to buy a new scope and was looking at this one? Is it worth it?
I dont have alot of experience with air rifles or scopes so let me know what you think.

I just want to be sure that when I dial in 80 yards its going to be 80 yards and when I dial it back to zero it will still be at my zero.
If it can return to the same exact zero it was shooting after “”come up”” I think I would try it.
But Im about to dump a few hundred dollars on your recomendation so I really want to be sure . thanks
Well, I did a test, but not a very extensive one by any means, as I’m really getting low on air. (and pellets) My gun is zeroed for my targets at 20 yrds, and my turrets have been set to zero. (you can reset them) After shooting 3 pellets in the same hole, I turned the windage turret counter clockwise about a 1/2 turn, and then turned the turret back to my zero setting, and the pellet went thru the same hole. I did the same thing with the elevation turret, same results, so it appears to be repeatable. Hope this helps.
Well I’ll be damned… I’m not alone after all! I was always a bit surprised that you almost never hear of these scopes, at least in the AG world, you hear a lot about them with PB’s, target guns and such, they’re very popular. Took forever to get mine awhile back because they sold like hotcakes, as soon as they came in they were gone, always back ordered, ect.
Anyways, glad to see another TAG member with one, and that you’re happy with it… 🙂
I have the TRS-1 as well and I agree that in this price range it is a good deal. I bought mine from bigrivertactical.com as they had the best pricing and were in stock at the time. I’ve got mine zeroed at 35 yards as that’s the range of where I normally get to shoot. I just use the mil-dots when shooting at different ranges so I don’t really mess with the turrets too much. It holds it’s zero fine, the IR is nice but I never really use it, optics are clear up until around 13x and then it starts getting slightly milky and the eye relief becomes much more sensitive. I think the range numbers on the side focus are a little off, mine seems like it’s over-estimating, but I haven’t noticed any backlash problems.

I hear you… to be honest I haven’t checked that out to much, since I only shoot at either 20 or 30 yards on our property I just zero it and leave it. It does hold zero fine when it’s set, but I’ve never put it through a test of repeatabilty. I’ll try today to see if it returns to zero after clicking around.
what about repeatable clicking??? will it hold its zero after ajusting your MOA???

Yes it will focus down to 10 yrds easily. There are 11 brightness settings on the IR. The lowest settings are so dim you can barely see it, all the way to full brightness, good for virtually any lighting conditions. Actually the brightess setting is so bright you’ll probably never use it. Green IR only.
Not sure what you mean by ‘Backlash’ on SF… Side Focus/AO? The large AO turret is a bit stiff, but stays put, no issues for me. But among all the 300 buckish Leapers, Nighteaters, Centerpoint, ect ect, this scope is easily as good, I’d say it surpasses all of them at this price point, unless you need more mag. Comes with Sunshade as well.

I have a Nighteater 6-24×56 IR and liked it very much in the functionality dept. I went off the look of it’s small turrets though, so I don’t use it anymore (I use a Hawke now).
Thank you for the input. Problem with that scope is that I have a night vision monocular set up so I cant have a scope with an illuminated reticle.
This is my favorite scope so far. You can get it for just under or over 300 bucks depending on where you look. It’s better than Nighteaters imo. Better reticle, and gathers light even better than the Nighteaters in low light conditions. Crisper optics to. Millet TRS-1 4-16X50 IR, lifetime garrantee. Here it is on my favorite gun.

The reviewer seemed to have light leaking from the IR, and had a hard turning AO knob on the scope he was sent, I’ve experienced neither of these things.

Mostly target shooting and some hunting…Never shot a 50x scope. I have an AF 4-12 x 50 now and want to upgrade to something better.
I am thinking in the 300-400 dollar range. If you have a suggestion I am open I am not stuck on this scope.

I run a Diamond 50x for FT and love it, but some guys take 10 minutes to acquire a target if you’re not used to it…
Sure you can dial it down, but why pay more if your not going to use it.
I had a 32x nighteater and thought it as a great scope *for the money.*
Little bit of backlash in the sidewheel. Not quite the fit and finish of high end gear. Good for what it was.

Well, I don’t think the TRS-1 could be any worse in that respect to any other scope in this price range. Here’s some more info on it. Actually, the ’09 model is better than mine. It now has ‘come up’ lines at the base of the turret so you don’t forget how many times you’ve turned it, and instead of 3 little grub screws that have to be loosed, there’s just one on the top of the turrets to reset them to zero. Millet has a good no questions asked return policy if I remember correctly, if something isn’t right. They have good CS, you could give them a call with any quiestions.
