Shotguns?
I was just looking around at guns, and started looking at the overunder shotguns. I am a rifle person, but I am clueless when it comes to shotguns.
So, my question is, what makes one over-under better than another. Pumps and semi auto’s are more like rifles, where things like the smooth pump and how it absorbs recoil is worth money. But over-unders confuse me. I know one thing is stock quality, a fancy wood obviously costs more, but what about the shotgun itself makes it just a cheap one versus a high quality one for the competition guys.
P.S. Blaser makes some sexy shotguns!!

I’m da shotgun man 😉 I have about a dozen or so.. the cheapest is a single shot stevens the most expensive is a Perazzi I bought for my daughter to trap shoot with..Its a race gun, and has a precision fit stock..the stock has a recoil shock absorber built in and it moves when you shoot instead of your shoulder getting pounded..a shotgun is no different than any other gun..the old stevens will kill a squirrel as good as any but you probably couldnt run a hundred straight on the trap range with it.. 😉
I have 6 remington 1100’s 28,20.16.and 12’s no 410 yet..I think the 1100 is probably the best shotgun for the money that has ever been built..
I am really not looking at buying one. I have an old walmart special pump action 12 guage that my grandad gave me that does everything I need a shotgun to do, which is mostly sitting around. If I do get something new, it will be a new rifle. 😀
I was just curious. To someone ignorant like me, they all seem the same. Barrel opens, put 2 shells in, and they shoot through a long smooth tube.
Of course, many people ask me why one rifle would cost so much more than the next, and that all they do is shoot a bullet out of the end. I obviously don’t agree, there is so much that goes into a rifle. I’m sure there is someone that is into shotguns that would say the same thing to me. 😀
Althought that automatic 12 guage would be pretty awesome. 😀 As much as I suck at shooting clays, I think even I could hit it by spraying 20 rounds full of shot into the air. 😀

Pay attention to how well they lock up, how smoothly they open and how well they eject the shells you want to use. With the break guns I guess it’s mostly down to looks, finish and features… like barrel choke, length, etc. You are probably going to want one with an effective recoil pad if getting 12 gauge or larger. The Browning Citori’s are nice.

i agree with the machinest the 1100 is da gun!!!!. dollar for dollar they are hard to beat. kingpin p.s. sometimes you can pick up a used one very reasoable. 😀
