Do it yourself Depingers
What a great mod to have…I hate the way a PCP sounds
when it is fired without a depinger. Until now, you had to buy one from
one of the guys that have a lathe that can turn a piece of delrin with an
oring groove…WELL, NO MORE PEEPS….I got this idea this morning…I
have some 1 1/4″ ID Vinyl hose that I got from Home Depot….I cut off a
piece about 2″ long and slit it long ways…I then roll it into a smaller
cylinder shape and cram it into the air tube about half way in….It worked
better than the Depinger that I just paid $25.00 for….It provides so much
more surface area inside against the air tube to dampen the
ring/ping…The ping is absolutely gone…Not even a hint of the ping any
more…I have goose bumps I am so excited about this mod….

Is this for an AF rifle? What do you mean by “cram it into the air tube”? Any pics of the install?

Not for AF guns Buzz….It is only for guns that have air tubes instead of air tanks/bottles…

Very simple….
1. Depressure it with the degassing tool that came with the gun. Remove degassing tool.
2. Remove the Fill cap
3. With Allen wrench, remove the barrel band
4. Re-position the barrel band, outside of the barrel, back onto the cylinder end cap. Tighten the set screw securely. Use the barrel band as a “wrench” to turn counter-clockwise and unscrew the cylinder end cap.
5. Put a very small dab of silicone grease onto the rolled up vinyl depinger.
6. Slide it down inside the air cylinder about 1/2 way
7. Re-install the cylinder end cap using the barrel band as a wrench
8. Re-install the barrel band squarely.
9. Slowly refill the gun to 3000 psi.
10. Shoot pellets without a ping 🙂

How do I dissasemble a Benjamin Marauders air reservoir to put a depinger inside?
This technique was too simple to work. Too easy to do. Too inexpensive to be effective.
I tried it, with the sole exception I coated the outside of the silicone tube with silicone grease, and it worked. Also, I used an Exacto knife and slit the edges until the piece fit into the tube in a perfect circle, not hard to do at all, just take a little bit off at a time. The silicone grease really made great wall contact between hose and tube.
It works very, very well. My Marauder no longer pings, my pecker is 1″ longer, and I grew two new teeth as a direct result of this mod.

Nice. I don’t have an airtube gun, but just the fact you found a cheap and effective way to stop the ping is great. Shadetree mechanics and a little ingenuity is all you need! 😀
hehe, you know what. i am soooo happy with the result. still to this day I occasionally grabbed my pcp shot a couple dry fires just to listen to the sound. 😆

long as it has a large enough OD and it is thick enough…My suppressor
was really quiet too before I put in the depinger…Now I can hear it much
more….I am glad it worked for you…..

yesterday after I read this I just grabbed my pcp and degassed it. cut similar hose and just did the way you do. refilled it back and did some test. Amazing!
Now I just need myself to find a better suppressor for my gun. lol.

What’s the deal with Air Arms guns in this respect? My s410 at full power has no ping at all, like other makes do. Is there some kind of factory de-pinger in these, or just a different design or what…
