Questions about the accuracy of small gauges?
I know that the small gauges that come with handpumps are a little off sometimes but how much? The airforce tanks have a max fill pressure of 3,000psi and have a safety burst disk. What if your gauge is off by 300psi and you fill to 3,000 and the real pressure is 3,300 will the disk burst and is the over fill bad for the tank?

2700 works better, give or take a hundred.

Yes I know…..I only fill to 2,550psi but I was just using 3,000 because that is the max fill pressure.
Generally speaking, I don’t think anyone here would recommend a fill to 3000. It’ll screw your gun’s performance up.

I also have a nice fluid gauge on my fill system it is very accurate. I never even look at the scba valve to see where the pressure is. Those gauges are not accurate at all.

I too want an accurate gauge on my condor. Heck throw in an accurate regulator while were at it 8)
i bought a gliserin filled guage from mcmaster carr for 20 bucks it was 1.5 inch and i put it on my bsa pump and it is very accurate it reads the same as every other guages at dive shops. you would think for the price that they could put a nicer guage on the pumps, hell what is another 5 bucks when you spend 300? that reminds me i have a guage on my condor and would like to buy a nice micro guage, like paintball tanks but can’t find a good one (better than an average paintball tank) any sugestions?

I don’t think you can fill your AF tank to 3,000psi if you only have
3,000psi in the tank you are filling from….Being 300psi short sounds
about right…Mine does the same thing and I have several gauges that
agree with each other…
My BSA scorpion fills to 3200 psi. I was only able to get it to 3000 on the last two fills.

Only way to know is compare to a master gauge.
I recently received a new airhog gauge and my first fill was 4300 psi at the local scuba shop. I noticed it never moved from the 4300 psi mark. Now I have 3,000 psi left in the tank but the gauge is still stuck on 4300 😯
That’s a good question. My Scott tank gage is reading 2800 psi right now, but when I did a fill today, it equalized at 2500 on the AF fill adapter. So 300 off? I don’t know which is wrong, but I would just about bet that the gage on the Scott is more accurate.

I’ve seen this before on a friend’s AH tank, the gauge is broken. Call ’em up, they’ll send you another.
