greetingsss… Guido π
Yes, quite pleased with that myself π
If you set up the Blod valve just right, it does marvelous things…. 8)
Hell Pab 1050 with kodiaks and 18″ thats all you can run them anyway and stay under the sound barrier. This is what i need to do and it would let me have 6 more inches of baffeling in the shroud or 6″ shorter gun.
What kind of shot count are you getting WOK?
Mike
Pablouk….I have arranged for the “service” that Hold Over demands for his Leopold scope. I told him to get it in the mail pronto!!!
This evens us up….right???
I use an 18″ .22 as my ‘carbine’ set up. Compact enough compared to the 24 incher and puts out kods at 1050…….
I have a chrony ordered. I need to get data to crunch. I’m not even sure of what I’m gettng with what I’ve got.
Need time….time…..must think π‘
I want short barrel looks AND long barrel performance. There’s an old addage to be utilized here. “For every drop dead gorgeous woman out there, you will find a guy who is sick and tired of putting up with her shit!”
I must move carefully. Beauty vs. Performance…they never room together.
I would like a 14″ barrel, but still have enough power for 50 yard kill shots. My question now is, should I put my Condor valve in, or get my standard Talon valve tuned?
I can always sell the Condor valve…but I’m not sure what “tuning” does for my regular valve. Is that a “Tony Tune” on the valve?
Thoughts?
The easiest solution for you is to put in the Condor Valve and hammer weight.
I suggest a 16″ barrel. It will give you a lot of velocity with that condor valve. I had Tony make mine and it is a tack driving piece of precision.
I have a code when it comes to these guns…. KEEP IT SIMPLE. Works for me. I am not a airgun power junky and want a certain performance from my airguns, so I am a lot easier to please.
If I want a little more power I may just put in a little softer valve spring in. But that is about it. The most I will push it is with a Condor Valve.
I like my pellets at around 950-1000 fps and really am not looking for more then that.

The Condor valve will give you the power , albeit with alot of wasted air due to the short barrel. You’d only go the tuned talon valve route if you didn’t have an alternative…which you do π
WOK…..you are very close to what I’m wanting to do.

I have a 16″ .22 with a tuned talon valve.
Kodiaks 855 fps
CP’s 955 fps
I wanted to keep the gun at 42″ with a shroud and have it still quiet. The combination of having 4″ more barrel and a tuned valve gave me an increase of about 100 fps from a stock 12″ barrel and valve.
I probably could get more out of the valve but I am lazy and like the shot count #
You don’t have the arm or leg to spare. Gimmie 5 days and I may be able to donate an apendage……. π₯
Those are some serious fpe results. One would think a 12″ to 14″ barrel would not provide enough length to wring out that much energy.
This would explain why Pulaskius said he was getting 950 fps in a 14″ barrel .25 caliber!
It appears a long barrel might not provide the quantum difference one might suspect in fps performance. A longer sight plane, but perhaps marginal increases in fps. The valve utilized, air pressure/volume available, and the first few inches of barrel must accompish most of the transition of inertia to velocity to a given pellet weight.
Hmmmm….I’m beginning to think a short barrel is not such a bad idea for weight distribution, and the look I’m after. A Condor valve might provide some interesting results on the chronograph with this setup.
Pablouk has five days left before his pecker falls off. Unusual, but interesting…not unlike the short barrel in mention. Both scenerios involve “short barrels”. What are the odds? π
Pab, don’t feel bad about wanting to “…wring my neck”. It’s the Black Knob talking, not you.
Now….where can I get a short .25 barrel without paying an arm and a leg?
