Q:

.25 test as promised

Well, I finally got the chance to do a little shooting today. I’ve been having a little trouble with consistent accuracy lately.
I finally found the problem. Or problems really. There were several.

One, these guns can be super hold sensitive. Damn!! OK – got that sorted out.

Next. The LED in the breach was rough. Nothing Walt in Hawaii did wrong. It was strictly me. I screwed up and put a nick in the breach. 😯

And Lastly, my new shroud. It was clipping ever so slightly. So slight in fact, that it was only on every 4th or 5th shot. I have strong suspicions that it was more of the air wave going through a little rough more than a pellet touching any thing.

I tore down the shroud and de burred ever thing. There were only very small burrs, but possibly enough to cause a problem with guilt edge accuracy. I’m real picky when it comes to accuracy.

As a side benefit, the deburring took out a good bit of higher pitched hiss when firing. It has a deeper-quieter sound now. I took out all of the felt that I had installed. (Which was basically doing the same thing) Because it was breaking down FAST!!! Man, these .25’s set on kill really put out some pressure!!!

So finally, I was able to compare the accuracy or the .25 Kodiaks to that of the new JSB .25’s. We all know how good the Kod’s are!

Recently I read a post on the yellow that claimed that Kod’s in .25 has a habit of becoming un stable at around 80+ yards due to the very thick and there fore heavier than usual skirt. It does keep them in better shape in the tin, But I can see how it could become a problem at extended ranges!

I have noticed a wobble in the .25 Kod’s at longer ranges, and wanted to test the new JSB’s which have a much thinner skirt to see if there was any merit to this train of thought.

What did I learn? Well, In my gun at least———————————————————————–DAY-YUM!!!!————————————

I have never had this gun shoot this well in .25. Heck, much of any caliber for that matter! T.20 is super accurate, but not at these ranges. the .22 —Same thing. but now, I’m swearing off my .22 Rim Fires. If need a 100 yard tack driver for tree-rats that is any more accurate than this, I will have to break out the .17 HMR

Here are the results. As I said, this was in my gun. I haven’t shot them in the Talon Tunes .25 yet. And all shooting was done on a Bi-Pod, and shoulder mounted, from a tall table while standing. No bench rest, or machine rest. So these could be better!

Shot a blaser 30-06 yesterday. Those are just THE smoothest rifles I’ve shot. here’s not much that cycles smoother!

Cheers!

Marc

Trade Ya! 😀

Mike

quote Mr-lama:

I’m going to sell the blaser and buy a ton of jsb’s now!!!

Well not really, but that is a mighty fine group!!!

Yeah dump the Blaser what do the Europeans know about Sniper Guns anyways and whats with thwe stock couldn’t you buy one that came all put together as it seems that there are some pieces missing. 😆

Nah just yanking your chain The Blaser is a great platform wish I could get that purchase past the wife.

Randy

Thanks for the write up Knife it was very interesting.

Thanks for looking and the comments Guy’s!

Standard bbl. at 21 1/2″,that Walt in Hawaii did up for me. (Group buy Project).

I didn’t test the velocity yet. I had the Kodiaks at 1050 and turned it down to around 890 last week. So the JSB’s are faster I’m sure. None went super sonic, so all is good. 😀

Jerry, I was chicken Shit! the group was so good the other day, that I was Skeeered!!! 😆

I have no idea what the BC is on the New JSB’s but it cant be as good as the Kodiaks with their longer length. But they are better balanced it would seem. Much lighter in the skirt. And yo know how we all like short light Skirts!!! The just look some much better on the right uuuh, where were we?

Mam-thinking you were lying-No! Feeling a little inadequate? Yep!

Wish I had one of your killer bench set ups! Nothing in front of my house but some boxes covered with a tarp waiting for the storage building to be finished here. Not much of bench. Not exactly steady! 🙁

I have really been admiring the new Air Wolf’s for their accuracy and huge shot count. I just lost one half of my reason for wanting one. Still, 130 shots on high,(30fpe) and up to 180 on low=30FPE. 😯 😀

Still on the want list!!!

Mike

Well done knife well done 🙂

Wow Mike…And I bet you thought we were full of crap posting sub 1″
groups at 100yds….lol….Those last 3 shots of a 5 shot group are killer to
pull off…..Makes me nervous enough to break out in hives…..Nice
groups Mike….Congrats…

What? You shot at long range and didn’t shoot any groups with the “one hole” 9 rings?! I’m crushed… 😥

I have tested them in my .25 Poly and they are just as good as Mike says.

The new JSB’s really kick ass. And they have a very good ballistic coefficient to boot!

Have some groups on here already which I posted previously

All shot at 100meters (110yards)

Barrel was a BSA pellets shot around 900 to 950fps

Cheers,

Marc

Mike is that a standard or Polygonal .25 barrel and at what speed are you shooting the JSB’s?

Thanks

Randy

Man, those JSB’s kicked the living s@#T out of those kodiaks at distance, unreal. Nice shooting mike!

That’s the reason I have a 6x scope on my guns. I can’t see squat at 100meters. So I only have to think about consistant posture, trigger control and sight picture!

Cheers,

Marc
