I used my combro, then Langs. They both read within a few fps of each other. I think they come with a +-.5% guarantee. I think.
I was saving up for a chrony and now I am not sure which one to get, which one is the most accurate out of all the chronies made? someone mentioned the more expensive ones, which ones are they?
If the gun is shrouded then having it close to the screens shouldn’t make a difference because the gas is being slowed down by the shroud, and doesn’t make it out until the pellet has been out of the shroud for a little bit.
mine cracked a few times and the last time was 1108, but I’m at 4800 ft. above sea level.

It really isn’t surprising that two chrono’s are reading different. Same with most of our gages. After all, we aren’t using certified equipment. They will give us an average at least. 😆

what would be cool if you shot through both at the same time.
line them up then switch positions of the cronies.
I chrony at 7 yards or so, wonder if the air blast effects them up close.
I protect the chrony with a chunk of 4″ 1/4″ channel.
MMMMMghh, wonder if there is a test for these things?
And, also beside bragging rights, no matter what the chrony says, it should still measure the way it wants, witch gives ya a reference as to shooting faster or slower

Good discovery NJ…. Goes to show you that nothing replaces good ol’ fashion “real world” application. Set those targets up, confirm those distances, know those fill pressures, pellet size, etc. and take note of POI. And do it again, and again, and again!

I use a Caldwell shooting rest when shooting over a chrony and a level to make sure I am crossing the screens in the shortest and straightest way possible.

Something else to watch when shooting across a chrony is the angle .. left to right and up and down that you send the pellet over the screens at.
