Q:

Leapers 5th Gen 3-9x32AO Bug Buster

What do you guys/gals think of the Leapers 5th Gen 3-9x32AO Bug Buster? I need to stay in this price range $50-$70 and this Leapers seems to have some good reviews.

I’m planning on testing the .22-cal Predator pellets with the new scope Thursday, maybe Tomorrow if UPS shows up before dark. I’ll zero in on 40 yards by the data I’ve added to chairgun pro. Stay tuned.

Don’t forget that ANY BC info for a pellet is only accurate for that guy on that day. Lots of variables can change that value. Use any number as a guide only. Chairgun has the same pellet(Kodiak/H&N Barracuda) and gives each one a vastly different BC value. Chairguns records are made up of guys sending their results in to them, so I’m guessing its not an exact science.. 😆

Pablouk,

I found this link just before I gave up, good reading and it has the data I was looking for, thanks for the program and help.

Thanks,

Never seen any bc info for it, though one would imagine its not too good due to its shape.. Try using data for a like shaped pellet?
Some guys on here have used them with sucess out to 75 odd yards….

Thanks Pablouk for the chart, downloaded the program and now I’m setting up the information. One thing I can’t find anywhere on the web is the BC (ballistic coeffieient) data on the Predator pellet. Any thoughts?

I would zero for 30 and learn my hold over/under for those distances.

For now I’ll be in the backyard, range will be from 10 yards to 60 yards at the max until I learn more about the talon and how to use the scope the right way.

Thanks Noodles for the offer, by time I read the reply I already had the scope on the way.

I do have one more question for you guys/gals, I’ve read all the post about sighting the scope in and most have different ranges to zero in on. With a Talon SS would 20 yards be correct or should I go down to 10 yards?

Thanks

Do you want optimum zero? Or zero for your regular shooting distance?
If you do most your killing at 30 yards, zero for that. If you have multiple ranges to shoot at, use chairgun to give you the optimum( I’m shooting 31 grain at 975 which equals about 49 yards optimum zero)

I always wanted one of those for my little old pump up gun. Don’t they focus down to 3 yards or something crazy?

I don’t know much about them, but if you haven’t heard you need 2 piece mounts for it because the one piece are too long.

Yeah
when I had the BB scope on my Talon, had to put my tri-rail cantilevered a bit to get the eye relief correct, it is a OK scope but the rectile was a bit thick, the good thing was it’s small, light weight scope.

test

My bug buster sure has some thick ass cross hairs on it, don’t know if they fixed that or not.
For a Talon, sure nice and compact.
