Plinking?
I setting here bored and about to go do some plinking , Been raining here, going on for two days. Backyard 40 meter range, Shooting out the back door of tennis court to edge of yard with pine trees back stop and rain.
My scuba tanks are down to 2200 psi and are too low for Kodiaks so I decided to try some my co2 pellets with hpa due to being cold out for co2. I use medium weight pellets with co2, JSB exact jumbo express/RWS super H points/Beeman Trophy/CP box.
Soooooooooo my first try was Super H point @ 2200 psi, power wheel 0,0 Terrible, Condor sounding like a rimfire an about a 6 inch spread @ 40 yards. Kept shooting and started to tighten up the spread. 2000psi no good 1800 fill no good
1700 psi fill 1/2 inch group 8 clicks high 8 clicks left, still loud and hitting hard, decided to try the JSB Express. 1700 psi fill, the Express were 8 clicks low and 8 clicks right. and around 30 shots had dropped one mill dot low,
1700 psi fill and returned scope prevous zero, groups tighten to less the 1/2 inch, still loud as hell, at least 25 good hard hits and after 30 shots drops to 1 mildot low and tank has dropped to 1000 psi . 30 shots from 1700 to 1000 psi.
Repeated this setup about 4 times, and the JSB express run out?
This was a surprise to me, Had previously gave up on medium weight pellets,
Waiting for the rain to slow down a bit and then I’ll make a run for the Tennis court and gonna try those Beeman Trophy, The Trophy’s were my GO TO pellet for co2 , but they won’t group with a 2800 psi fill.
With a single 80 cu ft scuba tank filled to 3200 psi with this setup you’ll get 55 refills “WOW” according to the AirHog fill calculator.
I’ll be using this setup until my two scuba tanks get back from being hydrostatic certified, and they were very nice to loan me a tank.
Sam 😉

When i first bought the condor i only had 15 grain pellets, so i spent all my time tuning for these.
My first attempts were3000 fill th on .95 ,pw on o. started out in the 800 fps range went up into the 900s to 1000s topped off around 1150fps at around 20 to 25 shots. at 75 shots around 990 s, 82 shots around 945, 817 around 108 shots, at 147 shots it when into 599 fps.
Shot terrible above 900s for the most part.
My first attempt to kill fps was to just take air from the tank to around 2400 and turn th down to .050 still 1000 plus.
so took air out to 1000psi and th to .026, pw o, 468,468,468,470 all i shot
turned th to .030 1200 psi 645,643,663,659,
2000 psi 740,743,743,
2500psi 830,818,
2700 psi 824,829,821,828,
2700 psi th .035 pw0 874 883 893 893.899.907.913.920.720.783.925.930.950.938.948.932.940.943.957.972.974.958.963.993.990.983.984.983.988.997.976.992.966.959.955.947.940.940.693.940.938. pw.5 853.866. pw0 .1200psi left in tank 931.930.997.936.887.934.944.937.948.926.929.938.915.904.910.892.901.893.901.910.906.895.
I left it like this for a while ,but noticed low fps recordings in shot strings. and i think that it’s the pw setting to low so i keep it up on 3 or 4 now.
I have played with fill pressures allot.depending on what pellet i want to use. I tune the rifle fps to what ever the pellet likes.
Rws h.p. one hole groups 25y 800fps range
Rws super dome about the same.
Rws Meister Clu. same but will keep decent group on up a little to 900s.
I had the groups start to open up and couldn’t figure it out for a while.checked everything??
Ended up putting a .070 oring behind tp to keep it off the brass behind it ,i think with the pw up on 4 it was causing a problem with the accuracy.
Th is .080 now with the .071 o ring behind it. fill pressures are around 2100psi Pw3
,777.726.782.786.770.878.879.886.885.876.890.897.887.919.900.900.896.897.908.907.This was peak and started back down.
Turn pw up to 4 and the shot string starts at around low 900s and goes up to 1030 or so then starts back down,
Probably can fill a little higher and start curve slightly lower for more shots?
This is no good with the rws pellets because they don’t like above 900 very well for peak accuracy. But i have bought some Gamo super dome and Match pellets as well as some of the Crosman H.P. pellets and they seem to shoot very well at this power so i will leave it here and play for a while.
I had the order of heavy pellets come in so i am palying with those a little now.
There is not much on the forum for tuneing for light pellets, hope this helps someone. 🙂 🙂
