Pablouk just PM’d me and said if I send him the AA, he would shove it up his bung-hole and clamp down really hard with his sphincter muscle, while two strong men put a three foot, 1/2″ pipe into the trigger guard, and forced the shroud loose.
He claims he’s done it several times, having discovered this particular talent while “entertaining the lads…over a pint at Potter’s Pub” back on the mother ship.
I honestly don’t know whether to believe him or not. He may just be trying to corn-hole me out of my AA S400.
I’ve got some Map gas, a torch and a pipe wrench. I think all I have to do is place the wooden stock in ice water while I heat the shroud, and apply 35 to 40 foot pounds of pressure to the pipe wrench, at the end of the shroud.
Dang, I sure hope that doesn’t leave a mark on the shroud!!! I was told to double fold a kleenex and put it between the pipe wrench teeth and the shroud to prevent unsightly marks.
Sure glad I asked for expert advice before I jumped into this half-assed!

i was told you have to get it pretty hot to break the loctite.
Not sure of the best way to get the thing loose. If no one here
has done it, post the question over on the Yellow, you will
probably get someone with first hand experience.

I removed the shroud on my s410, two weeks ago. I went by harbor freight and got the el cheep o strap wrench set. I didn’t think I’d ever get it off. I ended up using both strap wrenches at the same time. Once off I modified a plastic cleaning tip and turned it into a hook to fish the metal shroud piece out and found I had a bad o ring.
Getting the plastic spacers out was a pain I was able to fish one out with the plastic hook, and then I had to drive the last ones out using a wooden dowel. Pain in the butt.
Next time I am going to try to remove the spacers from the front.
Anyway back together and shooting better.
