Q:

My new 14" .25 cal Talondor….almost done, finally!!!

Hi guys!
Couple months ago I got fired up to have short gun. So I thought of 14″ 25cal Talondor.
Also I wanted to know more about the gun and the best way to do it is to put it together part by part.
My idea was to be able to take the gun down and put it in my backpack and go into the woods to hunt. Very light and swift.
So, I ordered frame, trigger group, breach and main spring with PW from AirForce airguns.
I like to build things but I do not have a lot of tools and machinery to do it.
So, I ordered 100 gramm hammer from Tony and as usually it is top notch piece of work. Thank you Tony!
But this super duper forum has a lot of really nice guys who know what they are doing and very helpful.
First off;
Eric AKA Metal Head supplied me with really nice 14″ .25cal barrel. Real nice one! You can see in in the pics. Thank you Eric!
Than I assumed that to push .25cal Kodiak up to 900fps and more I would have to crank the gun up the and it would eat a lot of air.
So, Hoot, agreed to sell me his 53 cu in bottle, that is almost 860cc of air.
I hope I can get more shots from it. Thank you Hoot!
I am still waiting on E-TacHPA adapter for this bottle from Jim AKA Marmot Militia and it should be here shortly. Jim is nice guy to deal with!
Thank you Jim!
Putting gun together wasn’t too difficult and it turned out pretty good.
The most difficult thing was to wait for all the parts to come together but that is the fun in itself.
Just this Saturday I received some goodies from Adam and as you can see they look awesome on the rifle ( as they belong there) Cool, right?
Thank you Adam!
I made shroud for it as well to keep things quiet as it will be really loud one.
I also thought of back up tank for this gun. I have one but it has regular Talon valve in it. I didn’t want to spend any more money for another hi-flo valve so I decided to order tophat, stem and brass valve insert for hi-flo valve. It turned out to be much, much cheaper than buying whole new valve. Kind of like modifying Talon valve with Condor valve parts.
I put lighter valve spring in and put the valve together. Pumped it up to 3K and it holds air well.
I will test it soon and let you know.
As soon as I get the E-Tac adapter I will test the 53cu in bottle as well.
All in all, I really like how this gun turned out; nice and compact.
I took the tank off of my Condor and shot 15 pellets through chroni with PW on 12 and 3K in the tank. Highest was 915fps and the lowest was 899fps. After 15 shots velocity started to drop. But that is from tank that is set for .22cal. I hope to push them faster with 53cu in tank.
To be continued

Nice gun Tonaka, what size pellet are you getting the numbers from?

What a cool project! Did you take assy photos, and what is the final cost?
Larryk

So sexxy!!!

How much were the parts from Airforce?

Thanks

Randy

Today I tested the regular tank with the valve that I put hi-flo parts in and lighter spring and first shot was 955fps and 12th shot was 894fps.
The PW was on 7, the tophat was at 0.082, fill pressure was 3K. No bell curve was observed. Ended with presure of 2500psi.
I will experiment more to get velocity stable but I think the spring in the valve is too light.
I also got the E-TaC adapter today and I am going to test the 53cu in bottle tomorrow.
Pab, all my valves are standard hi-flo valves not blodnob valves unfortunatly.

Does that little main spring open a blod valve ok??!

That’s a sweet setup Tonaka. Are you getting any bell curve on the velocities? Should be able to get more than 15 shots with a little experimentation. Looking forward to seeing more of your results.

Tagdagger, the safly nob comes together with trigger guard and AR15 adapter from Adam.
Yeah, tank is little bit fatter than usual

that tanks looks HUGE

Looking mighty fine! are these things fun or what 😀 I like the saftey, did MH turn it for you?

Thank you guys!
Adam, no problem, you can borrow them.

That looks great. On the last batch of trigger guards I opened up the trigger area some to give more room and helps with those who shoot with a glove on.

You rig is looking great. BTW I am going to borrow some of your picts 😀

Good looking Shorty!
And all the right parts! 😉

Mike
