Binocular’s
Looking for a Smallish quality pair of binocular’s around 10-12x, with 50mm max objective, but open to arguments for different specs.
Want something that will work well in both bright (California sun bright) and dark (night time, some artificial lighting). A no hassle lifetime guarantee would be great.
Was considering Steiner, but am not sure which model to go with. Any other brand/model specific suggestions appreciated.

I heard that the “autofocus” on steiner’s can be hard to use for old folk…. maybe thats the problem knife 😆
Yeah, I know what it is for. I have several pairs. But it doesn’t work well in the DARK!
By the way, The IOR has Zeiss (Scholt) lens in them.
When Tasco was still made in Japan, they were fairly good. Not so much now. Steiner was one of the cheapest quality Bingos made in Germany. It is what it is.

“Stiner is the Tasco of Germany.” It is untrue, Steiner has very god binoculars…. And the adjustment on each eye piece is for dioptric djustment not for focus, in fact is a focus free bnocular…
Mike, one of my best hunting buddies still uses that very same Trinovids. They are awesome for the size. Old, but still sharp by today’s standards, just not the brightest. My SEs are maybe 8? years old, from the first production run. Still one of my best investments. Hunting is all about detecting the game before the other guys on the same mountain. I see the goats my partners miss and have to talk them into the area using the radios.

After deciding to get a Spotting scope instead of the Binocular’s and ordering two FFP Mil-Dot Spotting scopes, the Leupold Mark 4 12-40x60mm Tactical spotting scope is back ordered 😥
Will have to make do with the Bushnell Excursion FLP 15-45x60mm ED Tactical which I also ordered as I’d heard it’s a pretty decent scope for the price (1/3 of the Leupold).

LIF not here yet.
The Nikons are sorta getting ho-hum reveiws latley. There are better out there for less money. A real shame, as they were on top of their game for a few years. They have really slipped in the last two years.
That and I hope their customer service is better on Binos than rifle Scopes. In scoped warranty issues, they SUCK!!! 👿
But all I have is a old pair of 8x23mm
Trinovid Leica. Made before Phase Correcting was developed.

For the money, you cannot beat an old pair (if you can find them) of Nikon E series in 8×30. Should be around $300 or so.
If you want to spring for a new pair that are a bit more, you cannot get better (yes, that includes the Swarovskis and Leicas) than a Nikon Superior E in 8×32 or if you want roofs instead of porros, the Voyager series… although Ive heard the new entries by Swarovski and Leica in roofs is a tad better than the Voyagers (at twice the cost).

I found a pair of old Russian binoculars (Tento 7x35mm) someone gave me as a gift that were laying around my shop I’d forgotten about
So given I now had binocular bases covered I went with a Leupold Mk 4 12-40x60mm spotting scope.
I’m afraid that poro II doesn’t mean anything. Just Jargan.
You want to look for BK-4 Prism’s and more importantly, phase corrected. Anything less is old school- low tech. 😉

Leupolds bino’s 10x for around 180. seem pretty good
nikon has good glass too for around the same price or even cheaper.
